Stress often leads to poor money decisions that can create even more stressful situations than we had before. Using retail therapy to soothe our bad day or bad luck can instigate a downward spending spiral, but The Wall Street Journal has some pointers for keeping us above water when the itch to spend can't be scratched.

Ask yourself why you have the urge to spend money and focus on solving those problems first.
Avoid the rationalization that overspending for work attire is necessary. Digging yourself in to debt will create bigger problems later, so figure out what you can realistically afford and go shopping for the best deal.
Plan for your bigger purchases by saving a certain amount each week until you have enough.
Scale down pick-me-ups by going for smaller, more inexpensive purchases or skip the shopping and grab coffee with friends.
Keep track of your day-to-day finances to establish a sense of control, and planning for purchases will become a more natural habit.

Sometimes, the best therapy is retail therapy. Like tyfabulous, I like to wander off into the boutique wilderness and find unexpected treasures. During her shopping excursion, the stunner wore an artsy printed skirt paired with tights, a tee, and a leather jacket. Also on the forefront are hard-core heels and a slick studded clutch. So sassy!

As we all know from earlier this week, the lighter than ever nude lip is a super hot trend for Spring. Imagine my excitement when I saw that retail_therapy had written her very own post featuring her favorite nude lipsticks!

I really like the colors she chose and it definitely tells me a lot about her skin tone. I also love this picture, because it totally looks like my workspace. I've got all kinds of makeup just a fingers reach away from my computer too!

We're certainly not complaining about Lindsay Lohan going from one addiction to the next since we'd much rather see her shopping than boozing. Besides, a little retail therapy doesn't hurt anyone, especially when it's a discount store like H&M. The actress showed off her super blonde hair while picking up some treats at H&M -perhaps a little Roberto Cavalli for H&M? Things have been going well since Lindsay returned to LA but what is going to happen when her mom's new reality show starts taping tomorrow in New York? We wonder if Dina is going to push to get Lindsay involved since it would be great for ratings. Are you thinking about watching the Lohan's new show?

It's crucial to let go of the workday blues when you leave the office by taking time for yourself, but the key is to not rely on retail therapy. There are plenty of ways to detach from the day's events, and none of these ideas involve retail therapy - no need to make things worse by spending money you may not have. I recently asked about your favorite inexpensive pleasures, and you shared great tips! Here are some of my favorites:
