If thinking outside the box and taking chances are what it takes to get the things you want in life, then TeamSugar member tphilli may be able to teach us a thing or two. Following suit of those who have used eBay in non-traditional ways like finding a wedding sponsor, tphilli is using the site to try and find a mentor. Starting at $0.99, the bidding war to become a mentor to tphilli is open, but there haven't been any bids just yet. Here's a glimpse of the ad.

I have pursued jobs in various arenas relating to my interests and hobbies and none have proven lucrative, in fact some of my favorite jobs have been little to no pay. I have read numerous books, been to countless seminars and watched videos of successful millionaires and entrepreneurs all leading me to the conclusion that I need a personal mentor.

I'm Asking: Do You Have a Career Mentor?

Though it's not common practice here at Sugar HQ to assign a career mentor, I know many friends in other fields who have been designated a mentor in the office. One of my closest friends was matched with a colleague shortly after she was hired and has found the relationship a huge help in understanding her role at the company and how she can grow in her position. Her mentor isn't too superior that she feels intimidated, and, in fact, she found the conversations became more social and relaxed, which helped her to get better acquainted with the office when she first signed on.

On the other hand, I've heard horror stories from employees who see little value in their company's mentoring programs. Their criticism stems from bad experiences where mentors contributed little advice, backed out of meetings for lack of time, or were perhaps so superior that they couldn't relate to the co-worker they were mentoring. It seems there's a certain art to getting the mentoring program right, especially if it's being offered or assigned by company policy. There needs to be a certain rapport and comfort level established before you can delve into problems or concerns you may have at the office. So tell me, do you have a career mentor? If so, do you find it a valuable experience?

Angela and Erin on The Office Baby - and Peeing Their Pants

It's a big day at The Office! Not only do we finally get a peek at Jim and Pam's little bundle of joy in tonight's episode, but Erin and Angela are working on a side project, too, with the latest addition to the show's online web series.

Titled "The Mentor," the videos follow Erin around as she learns the ropes of accounting under Angela's tutelage and becomes her mini me of sorts. Actors Angela Kinsey and Ellie Kemper recently sat down with reporters to discuss their new collaboration and their excitement over Baby Halpert.

Kinsey on how the baby will affect the show: "Our show is about an ensemble of people who work together. It's about Michael Scott and his co-workers. And anything else that's added to that is just a little bit of seasoning or spice; it's never the meat of a show, you know. And I think that this baby will be a little bit of seasoning sprinkled through of how it maybe is affecting Pam or Jim. But I think ultimately our show is about an office and that's what will be concentrated on."
Kinsey on how her Anne Geddes-obsessed character might dress up the Halpert baby: "I think come Christmas time I could try to make a live Nativity scene..."

Kinsey on why Angela befriends Erin in "The Mentor": "I sort of feel like Angela Martin wants a friend but she's so prickly that it takes such a tall order to be her friend. But, you know, she's not - she's not a robot, you know. She misses Dwight, she misses her friends, I mean, because I think he was her best friend. And, you know, I'm sure her ladies group at church is catty."
Kinsey on a Dwight and Angela reunion: "We're geeky militant soul mates. And [Rainn and I] hope that someday they find their way back to one another."
Kemper on Erin's new Angela-inspired wardrobe: "They're tiny, tiny buttons. I feel like my fine motor skills were completely...I couldn't button them they were so small. It is weird, it's like, yeah, it's a throwback to another era I guess. I liked it, but it was only because it was for one day. I liked having my hair in a French braid. I liked being sort of like uptight I guess."
Kinsey on Angela's advice for new couple Erin and Andy: "She'd probably tell Erin like, 'Really? Andy? Really? Walk away now fool.' And then she would probably tell them, because she's hypocritical, she'd probably tell them it's highly inappropriate; you shouldn't date at work."
Kemper on breaking character: "I think it's one of the most terrible feelings to have to hold in laughter...I have a problem. I haven't done this yet, Angela, and again too much information - I wet my pants a lot when I laugh too hard...I'm shocked it hasn't happened on set because it happens like, like in improv shows. It is that thing where you're holding in laughter and it's like - it has to come out!"

Matty was a woman of many distinguished titles. After graduating high school as an honors student, she went on to complete her master’s degree a semester ahead of schedule. She was her class valedictorian and made a brilliant speech that was revered by her esteemed professors and mentors.

Her career accomplishments were astounding. By the age of 25, she climbed up to a management position at a prestigious tech firm and became the company’s director by age 29. She and her husband were invited to every party on the circuit. She was a household name in her industry and everyone tried to woo her to competing companies offering her ungodly amounts of money. Her net worth at the age of 32 was mind-blowing, but she was missing something from her life-a family.

When she got pregnant, her company’s CEO smiled politely and congratulated her. He knew. Her work friends rejoiced for her happiness but with an undeniable undertone of glumness. They knew. Her jealous colleagues smiled with spiteful delight. They knew.

For the next few months, Matty tried to convince everyone that nothing would change after she returned from maternity leave. She was convinced of it herself. Even on the day her water broke, during an important client meeting, Matty hurriedly waddled out the door apologizing for the wet leather seat but assuring everyone that she’d be back in six weeks ready to go with the project.

Are You Disappointed Jedward Lost Their Record Deal?

John and Edward Grimes were back in their home town of Dublin yesterday ahead of St Patrick's Day as The X Factor tour made its way to Ireland. The twins still smiled despite the bad news they have been dropped by Sony, following the release of just one single "Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby)" with Vanilla Ice, which majority of you liked. Jedward's mentor and now manager Louis Walsh confirmed the news and showed his continued support, saying:

"I'm completely committed to Jedward and I know they still have a great career ahead of them. The boys have a sell-out tour in Ireland that they start straight after The X Factor Tour in April and I am in talks with a major record label about a new deal for them."

UPDATE: Sony may have dropped Jedward, but just 24 hours later Universal have picked them up. Looks like they're not gone for good, after all!

Bobby Flay Signs On to NBC Restaurateur Show

Today there's more intel on NBC's restaurateur reality TV show, formerly titled United Plates of America. Variety reports that the competition, which will air next season, has a new name, America's Next Great Restaurant, that's perhaps more fitting of the show's premise than its old title.

In addition, Bobby Flay has signed on to be one of the five restaurant and business leaders who will be a judge, mentor, and investor to the contestants. On the new program, which is casting right this moment, industry insiders like Mesa Grill owner and Iron Chef Flay will help a winning chef or aspiring restaurateur open a new eatery.

NBC hasn't had too much success in the food reality series department: 2003's The Restaurant, starring Rocco Dispirito, was a flop; last year's The Chopping Block with Marco Pierre White was canceled after just three episodes. Still, this is a completely new premise, and having Bobby Flay star certainly can't hurt. What do you think? Does the show sound like it has the ingredients for success?

John Galliano Heads up Fashion Fringe

London just got another boost as a fashion capital as John Galliano has been enlisted as the new Fashion Fringe chairman. The eccentric designer has an impressive 26 year long career and is taking on his next challenge as a mentor, replacing previous chairman Donatella Versace.

What's more, his arrival is shaking up proceedings as he will be the sole judge of talent at the London Fashion Week competition. He told The Sunday Times, “I am hoping we find a rebel genius. I will look for someone who reminds me of me when I was starting out - someone original, unique, who has their own style and handwriting and isn’t afraid to try something new.”

I think this is great news for any budding designers as the head of Dior has certainly proved his worth to the fashion industry. He is already offering advice saying, “If you want easy, don’t pick fashion. Life is full of challenges, and it is how you deal with them and use them to help you grow that sets you apart. I am proof that you can break the rules, you can push fashion to the extreme, lose backers and still bounce back. If you have the determination and drive, plus talent and luck, then anything is possible if you want it enough.”

Molly Ringwald Goes Green to Lose Weight

I've come to accept that I will always get a little choked up during the Oscars. This year it happened during the touching tribute to John Hughes - director of one of my all-time favorites, The Breakfast Club. It was especially great to see actress Molly Ringwald take the stage to honor her mentor. Like me, most of you thought Molly looked stunning in her purple Todd Thomas gown. Looking at her on stage, it was hard to believe that she gave birth to twins just eight months ago! The actress shared with People magazine that the key to slimming down for her was to keep everything in moderation.

Molly also may be getting into the St. Patrick's Day spirit early, admitting that her day isn't complete without some green.

"I try to make sure that I eat something green. I think that's just a really good rule of thumb. I love all different kinds of vegetables, but the green ones are generally the best for you and the best for your diet."

While I think it's best to get a rainbow of colors on your plate, Molly is on to something - leafy green veggies are packed with vitamin A, folate, and potassium. Molly waited until her twins were 6 weeks old before she started to lose the weight, and made a decision to take things slow.

"Just dieting basically, and it wasn't even like a really strict diet. It was more just a sensible diet, cutting down on sweets and upping the vegetables and protein, less starch, and I just worked out a lot, I'd say about three or four times a week."

Bella Donna: Bonnie Raitt

Her hair may have inspired Rogue from The X-Men, but Bonnie Raitt's a true inspiration to those of us living outside the Marvel universe as well. Being a female guitarist in a world dominated by men with names like Slash and Howling Wolf is a hard road, but Bonnie's dedication to her craft has gotten her all the way to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

She's not only a pioneer, she's also overcome her fair share of struggles: dropping out of Harvard to follow her musical mentor, struggling with drug and alcohol abuse, getting dumped by her record label only to come back with two best-selling albums, and standing by her principles when she came under fire for making negative comments about then-president George W. Bush. Through it all, though, she's remained a voice of compassion and an amazing talent.

She's less known, but equally commendable, for her political activism, including civil rights agitation, anti-apartheid work, and early interest on global warming and clean energy. Plus, who doesn't love a woman who not only embraced her first gray streaks, but makes salt and pepper hair look dead sexy? Bonnie really has given them something to talk about, and we love her for it.
