The 18th Annual Britannia awards brought out a gaggle of classy ladies. From fitted to voluminous, the following ladies radiated in their red carpet looks. Amy Adams (in Azzaro) and Minnie Driver went down the noir path, Freida Pinto showed sheer Valentino love, Emily Blunt dazzled in burgundy Basil Soda, and Claire Danes worked a classy black-and-white Oscar de la Renta number.

All of the women nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role at this year's Oscars are amazing in their own right. We've been reading about their unique career paths all week, and after learning about each of them I'm wondering whose résumé you'd want to flaunt most if you were an actress. Consider who you respect and find inspiring, ambitious, accomplished, and full of potential.

I'm getting more excited for the Oscars as we get closer to the big day, and to prepare for the red-carpet (from my comfy couch) I'm looking more in depth into the nominees' interesting careers. Ruby Dee is one remarkable woman — on screen and off. She has more than 50 years of acting on her resume (she was born in 1924), and off stage she and her husband, Ossie Davis, have been involved in civil rights protests and causes and active supporters of equality and civil rights issues.
