Your mom's advice to be yourself in any anxiety-inducing situation can certainly be applied to your job search, although not all applicants have been remembering the wise words of mom. A recent CareerBuilder survey found that half of hiring managers have caught a lie on a résumé and the fibs include things like embellishing responsibilities and faking academic degrees.
CareerBuilder also polled the managers to find out the words they most commonly search for when filtering résumés.

TeamSugar user yoruhana posted her "Entry-Levelness Resume" in my Résumé Remedy group — she's a year out of college and looking for something new because the company where she held her first job is undergoing financial troubles. Her current resume implies that she's a highly-desirable candidate — she has a good education and made the most of her time during college with various internships — yet she's having trouble getting an employer to bite at her applications. She'd like some help making her bulletpoints pop, but I'm going to give my two cents from top to bottom — résumés can be fun!

Just wanted to update all of the Resume Remedy group members about my job search status. Back in April we found out my husband was being transferred so I had to dust off my resumes and start the infamous job search. I posted my resume in this group and got tons of great feedback from the members!

TeamSugar user jenwils01 shared her résumé in my Résumé Remedy group — she's looking for some help in spelling out her current accomplishments because it's difficult to put soft skills into straightforward sentences. She has a good understanding of her responsibilities as an account manager where her main focus is relationship development, but she's also attentive to her duties as a salesperson with the goal of increasing revenue. Here are my observations and recommendations, and of course you're encouraged to share your own in the comments.

During a past job search, a recruiter added her company name as my résumé's header. When viewed in Word the header was hidden, but as a printed page her name was there in bold, leaving me susceptible to making a serious mistake when applying for jobs outside the efforts of my recruiter.
Employers often print out résumés even if it was sent through email, especially if you're scheduled to interview.

There is a common link between the sparkly universe of Twilight and the sociopath exploits of Showtime’s Dexter, and her name is Melissa Rosenberg. The screenwriter and Emmy-nominated television producer has been juggling the two franchises since 2007, which is when she scripted the first Twilight film from Stephenie Meyer’s novel. Following the film’s enormous success, Rosenberg became Summit’s go-to writer for the series, and she’s since written two sequels including this month's New Moon and next summer's Eclipse.
