There are a few bright spots in every Winter, namely the following, in no particular order: snow sports, the Super Bowl, hot cocktails, and Girl Scout cookie season. But sadly, my attempts to track down cookies this year have been in vain, as I haven't seen so much as a single Daisy, Brownie, or Junior anywhere in the Bay Area.
To remedy the situation, I took matters into my own hands with a homemade variation of the Caramel DeLite, or Samoa, the Girl Scout cookie to end all other Girl Scout cookies.

It comes but once a year, that time when a few bucks will buy you a stroll down memory lane. As we speak, girls dressed in green are knocking on doors across America, carrying boxes filled with everyone's favorite treat -- Girl Scout cookies.

One of my co-worker's asked me if I wanted to buy a box of Girl Scout cookies.
He told me to not feel pressured...but feeling pressured is the least of my worries, since I am more COMPELLED to buy the caramel delights.
I am so bad.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The economy has cut into sales of Girl Scout cookies. Now, some parents say Walmart could be responsible for even fewer boxes being sold this year.According to a blog posted by an Ohio scout mother, Walmart is selling cookies that look and taste similar to the popular Thin Mints and Tagalongs. The mother claims they are being sold under the Great Value brand.Gina Garvin, Communication’s Specialist for the Girl Scouts of Northeast Kansas and Northwest Missouri, Inc., says they are aware of the claims.

I am probably the most naive person on the internet. For years I have been quietly typing away, spewing out articles, stories and goofy commentaries on only three websites, happily going about my business, making tons of friends and hoping that I was perhaps the best kept secret. I have actively guarded that secret and kept it from my family.

I get a daily e-mail about education-related issues, which has at least one interesting story almost every day.
In this morning's edition, I saw two adjacent stories which struck me as being related.
I share for your interest and perhaps amusement (or disgust).

I’ve always envied my friends who were Brownies. That’s probably why I was excited about this vintage Girl Scout uniform. At first glance its a cute costume, but sans the orange tie and gold pin the dress becomes a great palette for a cool look.
