When my credit card reached its expiration date I did not receive a new card in the mail. I had to ask for two more to be sent before I finally got a plastic card. My roommate had thrown away two cards-so two accounts were closed due to lost/stolen card.

In these days of hybrid cars and carbon credits, it is common knowledge that substances exhaled by autos and coal plants are harmful to our respiratory system. What may be surprising is the degree to which they may harm the brain—in some instances, as much as exposure to lead. A recent string of studies from all over the world suggests that common air pollutants such as black carbon, particulate matter and ozone can negatively affect vocabulary, reaction times and even overall intelligence.

I check my credit reports regularly for errors, but I've never paid extra to find out my credit score because I don't have any plans to take out a mortgage or buy a car (I live in the city and rent). Is there any other reason I'd need to know my credit score?

FHA loans only require 3.5 percent down, and credit score requirements are flexible. Some lenders are taking full advantage of that flexibility. It reminds Cecala of the subprime mortgage market of the past.

NEW YORK - Shannon Burdette tried to pay with her Shell Mastercard after filling up her gas tank this weekend but found the card rejected.
Confused, she called the customer service line on the back of the card, issued by Citibank, and was told the account was closed because of something that appeared on her credit report. But when the Sykesville, Md., resident got a copy of her credit report online, the only negative thing she saw was "closed at credit grantor's request" on the Shell MasterCard account.

I generally have a strong stance on Capitalism being the best economic system in existence. However, now and then I think it's good to question this, especially when I see things like this, which don't help to proove my point. Basically, most countries on this list are the most capitalist nations in the world- with Hong Kong having the biggest gap, and being the "most Capitalist." I do believe that Capitalism is good for the whole, that it does not cause the rich to get richer, etc. But this shows that the rich are just taking over all of the wealth in these nations. What are your thoughts?

So yesterday, I went to buy my scores from myFICO.com (as suggested) and they only offered my TransUnion and Equifax scores. I couldn't find my Experian and they used to offer all three. The site is certified and I get my true legal scores ( I recently purchased a car with that info), so is there something going on with Experian where they arent releasing data?

The new Credit Card Reform Act is supposed to protect consumers against high fees, surprise hikes in interest rates and abusive billing practices.
The law passed in May and is not set to take effect until February. But with the holiday shopping season just weeks away, some lawmakers on Capitol Hill are pushing to move up the start date.

A study shows that people who abruptly and intentionally abandon their mortgages often have high credit scores, in stark contrast with most financially distressed borrowers.
Who is more likely to walk away from a house and a mortgage -- a person with super-prime credit scores or someone with lower scores?
Research using a massive sample of 24 million individual credit files has found that homeowners with high scores when they apply for a loan are 50% more likely to "strategically default" -- abruptly and intentionally pull the plug and abandon the mortgage -- compared with lower-scoring borrowers.
