The Office star Rainn Wilson stands in as CNN weatherman

CNN sure is working hard to mix it up lately. The original cable news network has often been chided for their supposed liberal bias, and has been criticized for its lack of hard news. I think they’ve struck a decent balance while still being watchable. I remember a few years ago when they drastically overhauled their lineup and there was like 6 hours of Wolf Blitzer in a row. That was a really miserable time to be a news junkie.

Rainn Wilson, one of the stars of The Office (he was just nominated for best supporting actor) has a new movie coming out in August called The Rocker. Instead of just stopping by to give the standard entertainment segment interview, he also got his weatherman on.

wonder how many people were just flipping channels and bought what he said for a minute. I would much rather have this guy as the weatherman than pretty much any other meteorologist who actually “knows what he’s doing.” You can see all of Rainn’s interview (along with a few awkward “that’s what she said” moments) here.

From Entertainment Weekly The Office star Rainn Wilson looks frackin’ hilarious as Xena: Warrior Princess, who was originally played by Lucy Lawless.

Rainn tells Entertainment Weekly, “I always watched Xena because it was oddly titillating, and I kept wanting to see more cleavage. I wanted it to be Baywatch with swords but it never quite went in that direction.”

He adds, “[I look like] the chunky girl from Heart… Basically, I look like a ravishing lesbian. Don’t you?”

John McCain joked about choosing his running mate on Comedy Central's Daily Show Wednesday night.

"Listen, I know you've been wondering who my vice presidential candidate is going to be," the presumptive Republican nominee told Jon Stewart. "I've got it written down. You ready?"

"You heard it here first: Dwight Schrute" – The Office character played by Rainn Wilson, McCain quiped (watch above).

"That is pandering of the highest degree!" Stewart replied.

Stewart told McCain that Hillary Clinton should be his running mate. "You would win this election," he said.

"That's one I never contemplated," McCain responded.

McCain also jokingly stood up to walk off stage when asked to repudiate President Bush, whom Stewart compared to Barack Obama's controversial former spiritual advisor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

"I am going to run a respectful campaign," McCain pledged. "I respect both [Clinton and Obama]."

Okay so I officially love Rainn Wilson, especially as Dwight Schrute, but I thought tonight's episode was sup par. Rainn was good, but I don't think the sketches were all that good. His monologue was very funny though. The cast members nailed the quirks of the office to a T!

From pencil pusher to robot slayer?

The Office's Rainn Wilson has signed on to star in Transformers 2, the NBC funnyman told MTV News.

The sequel – which begins filming this summer – is slated for a 2009 release. Shia LeBeouf, Megan Fox and Josh Duhamel will all reprise their roles.

Wilson will have a small part as a college professor. He jokingly added, "A professor that turns into a car that turns into a robot."

Now that's more than meets the eye!

A few weeks ago my college hosted a book reading for Holiday Reinhorn and I went for extra credit...turns out shes married to Rainn Wilson who plays Dwight on NBC's The Office, he was there with her and he got up and read part of her book to us! It was so fun because there was only about 100 people there so it was like a private little thing! I dont have a picture because I thought that it would be rude to take pictures during that but I had to share!

"Office" co-star Wilson to host Spirit Awards

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Actor Rainn Wilson, who plays tyrannical salesman Dwight Schrute in "The Office," will host the Spirit Awards, the art-house world's version of the Oscars, on February 23.

The event, which takes place on Santa Monica beach the day before the Academy Awards, will go ahead with the blessing of the striking Writers Guild of America (WGA). The union granted the event's organizer, Film Independent, a waiver to hire writers for the ceremony. Wilson, a WGA member, will contribute as a writer for the event, which will be broadcast live by the Independent Film Channel.

The WGA has also granted a waiver to the Screen Actors Guild for its awards show, but rejected requests from the organizers of both the Golden Globes and the Oscars.

The Spirit Awards waiver raises the possibility that the ceremony could upstage the Oscars if the strike is not resolved by late February. The walkout is now nearing the end of its seventh week, with no resolution in sight.

"The Spirit Awards and Film Independent have a long-standing, positive relationship with the Writers Guild," Film Independent executive director Dawn Hudson said. "We've worked over many, many years to have parity for writers as they're represented on our show."

The WGA said Film Independent requested a waiver before the strike began on November 5.

In addition to being broadcast live and unedited on IFC, the often bawdy Spirit event will be rebroadcast the same day in an edited version on AMC. If the strike is still on, the broadcasts would provide a platform for WGA supporters to state their case.

Wilson makes a cameo appearance in the pregnancy comedy "Juno," which picked up four Spirit nominations.

Dwight is by far my favorite character in the office, followed by Jim, and probably Michael in a close 3rd. What makes Dwight so lovable are all those gullible moments when Jim pulls the wool over his eyes.

These are some of my favorite Dwight moments:

1. He finds his desk in the men's room

2. He finds his stapler encapsulated in jello

3. He finds his wallet in the vending machine

And lastly, Dwight liked Battlestar Galactica way before I did!
