It turns out, the difference between men and women's salaries is smaller than we thought — as long as those salaries aren’t very big to begin with. A new study from PayScale.com compared salaries across 90 different jobs, adjusting for any outside factors that might affect the salary (the location of the job, the worker’s education, etc.) except for the worker’s gender. What they found was surprising — to see the results, read on.

Dear Savvy,
Today, my manager called me asking me to write up a report about a fellow co-worker. I had mentioned that she was having some difficulties adjusting to the workplace, that she was rude to us, and where she was getting better but that she still often isn't on task. I told her that I would, but I just sat down to write it and have no idea what to say, how to say it, etc.

I am really pleased for my husband!
He has an interview and testing tomorrow, for a job in the It industry.
Hay it may be entry level, but a start...When he gets the job it may be night shift but that will I hope change as he shows how clever he is where he is going to work.

I love going to Sephora and I thought it would be the perfect place for me to work. I put in an application for a seasonal position, but they never called me back(I called them and left messages). I have never worked anywhere before, but I am 18(the required age).

Chances are you’ve taken a personality test at some point in your life — a Myers-Briggs for fun, a Caliper or other employment test for a new job — but have you ever thought about how the results might impact your career choices?
Nancy Ancowitz, author of Self-Promotion For Introverts, recently wrote an article in the New York Times about how her introverted personality affected her career path. Ancowitz had always assumed her need to work alone and her aversion to large meetings were character flaws.

Climate bill could cost 2 million jobs
By Jim Snyder (The Hill)

Add another climate bill cost estimate to the growing pile.
The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and the American Council for Capital Formation (ACCF) released a study Wednesday that found under a high-cost scenario the House global warming bill could reduce economic growth by 2.4 percent and cost 2 million jobs by 2030.
Environmentalists were quick to criticize the study for underselling the development of climate-friendly sources of power and not releasing other assumptions NAM and ACCF fed into the computer model to get their economic forecast, which takes more of a glass-half-empty view than recent governmental reports.

A good friend recently admitted she gets nervous and clammy whenever her boss schedules a meeting with her, which is quite often. She's never been given a bad review or stern talking to, but there's something about being called into a one-on-one that makes her panic.
When I asked her why she couldn't explain her fears, except that, like most SavvySugar readers, the recession and layoffs at her company have left her particularly uneasy and chipped away at her confidence.
