Dec 15 2009 - 11:00am I affectionately renamed this Summer the "Summer of Love" because I attended so many weddings, so I was shocked to learn a procession of you didn't spend a penny on weddings in 2009. Twenty-one percent of readers did spend $100 to $500, which tells me that most of these events required little traveling, and 15 percent threw down $500 to $1,000 to witness sweet nuptials.
I'm with the 12 percent who spent $1,000 to $2,000 on weddings this year, and that's due to the fact that I had to brave a few flights to witness the weddings of my college pals.
I got married this year and got almost nothing. Literally like 30% of my registry. I understand that we are in a recession, but we had 150 guests (invited 200) it was honestly heartbreaking.
Like how can I know someone since 7th grade and they spend $20 on a gift. Most of our friends are recent college grads, but it's a once in a lifetime event. I really don't want to sound
spoiled or anything with this post, but if you are going to a wedding please really plan out the gift. If someone sends you a save the date in December for a wedding in July (and nowadays
with facebook people know since the second you got engaged) you have time to budget at least what the bride's family is paying for food, which in my case was $60 per person.

No weddings for me this year, but like the "Summer of Love" I had the "Fall of Babies" where I bought 3 baby gifts within 3 months.
1No weddings this year. Most of my friends have gotten married within the last few years. Now it's baby time
