Down-and-out Lehman Brothers ex-employees know that selling stuff online is a quick way to raise cash, and wasted no time in posting company memorabilia on eBay. And people are bidding! Take this up-for-grabs company mug, which is already going for more than $80!

After the way things turned out, I wouldn't want nostalgic company swag laying around to conjure maddening memories, either. Lehman Brothers goods aren't going for cheap! If thinking outside the box and taking chances are what it takes to get the things you want in life, then TeamSugar member tphilli may be able to teach us a thing or two. Following suit of those who have used eBay in non-traditional ways like finding a wedding sponsor, tphilli is using the site to try and find a mentor. I have pursued jobs in various arenas relating to my interests and hobbies and none have proven lucrative, in fact some of my favorite jobs have been little to no pay. JetBlue Auctioning Flights on eBay This Week

Coming off the bad news that they're the least on-time airline, JetBlue has announced they're auctioning more than 300 roundtrip flights and six vacation packages on eBay. While the opening bids are set between five and 10 cents, it's estimated the airline will make between 85 and 90 percent of the ticket's market value.

The flights up for auction are to 20 destinations and there are four mystery vacation packages to places including Las Vegas and Nassau, Bahamas. The mystery packages include four nights at Marriott hotels and flights leave on Thursdays or Fridays and return on Sundays or Mondays, and you must take your trip by October 6, 2008. Brilliant or Baffling: Bride Finds Sponsor For Wedding on eBay

A brainstorming session that started out as a bake sale quickly turned into a bidding war for a bridesmaid job in a Virginia Beach wedding. Bride-to-be Kelly Gray was considering ways to raise extra money for her upcoming nuptials when her existing bridesmaid said, "We need to auction something (on eBay). There's Dr. Pepper cans and Cheetos bags for sale, so let's just go ahead and do a bridesmaid."

Kelly wasn't hopeful that the eBay plot would yield any results, but she ended up with dozens of bids. The winner was the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group which won with their final $5,700 bid and voluntarily upped it to $10,000. They'll also provide the beverages for the wedding.

Who will stand in as a bridesmaid remains to be determined, but the company's spokesman said they're thinking about having a contest or asking a celebrity. Kelly is very grateful and said, "I don’t want it to be extravagant, but now I can get that wonderful D.J. who has the lights; I can do that. Now I’m thinking of a honeymoon."

Woman Auctioning Her Family's Debt on eBay

The Indiana University alumni who tried to auction her student loans on eBay didn't have much luck, but another woman is hoping there are buyers out there who would be more willing to bid on her family's $103,254.11 debt. The listing is titled "My Debt, all of my worldly bills comes with house and car" with the caption "My Family Second Chance," and the seller provides a picture of the house, car, and a photo of her family of five. Indiana University Grad Auctioning Her Loans on eBay

Most of you know all too well that college tuition bills can be outrageous and require hefty loans, and as new grads it can be tough to figure out a way to manage the payments each month. A couple of weeks ago I told you about Luke, a recent college grad who's selling ad space on his website, and the money earned from companies purchasing the space goes towards paying off his student loans. He already has sponsors lined up for March and May.

While it's a different concept and less of an entrepreneurial endeavor than the ad-sponsorship concept, another college grad, Liz Huffman, has come up with her own solution of auctioning her loan payments on eBay. Her current situation sounds just like Scarlett Johansson's character's life in The Nanny - she graduated with a degree in anthropology and is currently working as a nanny, though her dream is to work in a zoo communicating with primates via sign language.

So far, Liz has received a $50 bid from a woman in California and said, “I think $50 is all I’m going to get.”

News Flash: eBay Strike Is Over With New Policies in Effect

The eBay strike ended on Monday with uncertain results, meaning it's difficult for them to calculate whether or not the strike had much of an effect on the business.

While last week's strike was up and running, eBay implemented the first of its new policies which meant lowering listing fees but increasing the "final value" fees the site charges sellers as commission. Next month the search function will be updated so that volume sellers with high customer feedback ratings will get priority.

Next month eBay will also introduce a policy that will involve holding payments sent through PayPal for up to 21 days if the transactions are considered "high-risk." May will bring another update to its feedback system, and this time it will block sellers from leaving negative comments about buyers.
