On this week's Curb Your Enthusiasm Larry David gets in a heated argument that escalates into a physical fight with Rosie O'Donnell over their lunch bill. Larry insists he invited her and should therefore foot the bill, and Rosie declares she put her hand on it first so it's on her. Pretty soon the two are yelling, wrestling for the check and causing a gigantic scene.

It's second nature for me to rinse a dirty dish before placing it in my dishwasher; it's what I was taught to do growing up, and the habit always made sense until I came across a tip from Consumer Reports.
The value focused publication suggests that if saving money and water are household goals, we should do the opposite and resist rinsing. CR estimates that just 10 percent of Americans have stopped prerinsing their dishes.

Energy bills can skyrocket in seasons that demand temperature regulation, namely Winter and Summer. SmartMoney has noticed more electric companies offering time-of-use options for customers who are able to minimize their energy use during certain times of the day.
The plans come with lower rates for off-peak times, usually from midevening to early morning, but the rates are much higher for peak-hours use.

It's the first year I've ever owed taxes, and my emergency fund is thankfully taking care of the over-sized bill. A growing number of unemployed Americans are having to use their rainy day funds to cover everyday expenses, so there's a greater chance these taxpayers won't be able to afford their tax bills.
Turning a cheek to your taxes will only create a bigger debt to the IRS so it's imperative that you face your tax bill head-on.

Online banking is something most of us couldn't imagine living without, and more than half of Internet users pay at least one monthly bill online. Some of those people pay each bill online by manually entering payment information every month, and the New York Times explored five reasons why these consumers are hesitant to automate their bills.
Errors: Some people worry their bank will make costly mistakes when removing funds from their account, but banks will automatically credit your account for a mistake as long as you inform them within 15 days of receiving a statement showing the error.
Service that won't end.: If you cancel a service and the provider continues accepting automatic payments, it can be difficult to get those funds back.

When I was a fresh college graduate earning my first real paychecks, I quickly saw how living in a city like San Francisco isn't made for entry-level salaries. Exploring the city and all of its nighttime gems were certainly priorities, but the biggest priority was to keep myself out of debt while not depriving myself of enjoying my new surroundings.
I struck a balance by forming the valuable habit of paying all of my bills on pay day.
