It's obvious why Wednesday earned its rep as "hump day" — certainly in theory, anyway. Falling exactly in the middle of our week, and signaling the oncoming weekend, it seems a likely day for something special. But not since Wednesday's ritual early dismissal from high school can I recall anything tangible to beat the midweek slump and celebrate the fact that the weekend is almost within reach.
Just one more day and I'll be ready to go back to work. How many of us have said that after a long weekend? Having an extra day tacked on to our two-day weekends is a treat that I'll never take for granted, but it always seems more difficult to get motivated for the work week after having an extra day off.
