Could it be an out-of-workplace trend in the making? The Wall Street Pink Slip party was packed with job hunters and recruiters alike, and the only way to distinguish who had what the other person wanted was the color around the party-goers' wrists. Neon green bracelets were given to guests looking to hire, while red bracelets were donned by those looking for work.

Students that planned to make a career in finance are still hopeful the market will bounce back up and they will find positions.
Wall Street recruiters have canceled or postponed visits to elite universities like Harvard, Princeton and Stanford, because of the state of the markets, according to the New York Times. Still, business and finance students at schools across the US said they were not panicked about their futures and were confident that the financial markets would recover.

If there's anyone that knows how to hold her own in a room full of men, it's a woman that has worked on male dominated Wall Street. So, is it only natural that after the Street has morphed into something very different than it was just one month ago, Playboy is trying to recruit current and former female employees to show off their valuable assets?
The magazine is trying to recruit 20 women to recreate the "Women of Wall Street" feature it published 20 years ago, and is especially hoping to get some women with more "senior job experience."

Many of Wall Street's employees may have enjoyed enviable salaries and big-time bonuses during their careers, but now that about 33,300 finance jobs will be cut by June 2009, some of those workers are finding other ways to continue paying their bills.
In such a troubled market many of them are earning money in jobs unrelated to finance and making much less in doing so. One ex-Bear Stearns employee started a company that teaches kids to cook, a Bank of New York-ex moved to Omaha with his wife where they opened a hair salon, and others are trying their hands in jobs like bartending and real estate to make enough money to live.

In the good ol' days, finance types had a leg up on the competition by simple virtue of their monetarily rewarding professions. Now, according to matchmaker Samantha Daniels, the playing field is a bit more level because of the economic changes during the past year. Daniels' services can cost upwards of $25,000 and, despite the recession, she says her business is booming because people are yearning for stability in their personal lives.
