Mar 21 2009 - 11:00am The characters from
Sex and the City may have spent most of their screen time out on the town, but all four of the ladies
worked hard for their salaries. Whether schmoozing at parties, directing her assistant, or turning her boyfriend into a star, Samantha embodied the cunning and cutting edge PR exec persona, while Charlotte pulled off classic artist-chic during her time as an art gallery director. It's hard to pass judgment on a career you haven't had, but forget education, relevant experience, and interview contacts for a second.

If it wasnt for sex and the city I wouldnt know what to major in (Public Relations)
1The Gallery Director
2PR, I don't know anything about art or really care too.
3Gallery director for sure
4I am a Gallery Director. Not as glamorous as it seems. You spend very little time doing the things that they showed Charlotte doing (Curating, hosting openings, etc...) and much more time doing the behind the scenes work that makes the gallery function: Primarily sales, acquiring and transporting works, marketing, and even cleaning the gallery (Read Mopping). Also the money isn't that great, and in this economy there are almost no jobs.
Sorry to burst any bubbles, but for anyone interested in going into the field, you should know that.
5Since I am a lifelong multimedia artist I've always wanted to be involved in PR. I was looking into going to school (UCLA) to get a degree to become a PR rep but cannot figure what to study aside from communications and marketing.
Gallery management would be too difficult for me. I can and do view other artists work objectively but I do form my own opinion about the work etc and if asked I would tell a patron my opinion favorable or not. Additionally the prices that some artists and their agents want to charge is completely ridiculous and makes me laugh because the price is not equal to the work or effort that the artist is selling.
6i've always been more of a samantha professionally speaking . my career now is in advertising which is along the same lines as PR...and i like the high energy and tempo of the PR world. i can appreciate the artsy side, but it's just not my thing
7I've done PR, and I'd really rather do the behind the scenes work in a gallery.
8I'd rather be Samantha (because she's actually the only woman in the series who has self esteem) but between the jobs, I'd rather be a gallery director, to be honest.
9I like Charlotte's dress.
10gallery director
11Gallery director! I don't know much about it, but I'm inspired to look into it now. I've always wanted to have my art in a gallery; heck, why not run the show while I'm at it?!!
12Gallery director! Sounds fun and creative.
13I wish there was a PR major. I probably would have took it. It is like a political advisor for celebrities and companies. Sounds exciting.
14Gallery girl fo sho.
15PR!
16They are both my dream jobs, but as I am entering a stage of life where I want to have a family, I would say Gallery director....more flexibility, better hours. If you would have asked me 5 years ago, I would have said PR.
17I like ugg boots
