Did You Leave a Pet at Home and Move Away? Empty nest syndrome doesn't just affect parents as pets can be hit hard by a human family member moving out! After all, if Fido's used to curling up at your feet at night or Fluffy accustomed to laying on your lap while you watch TV, the vacant spot can not only cause confusion but sometimes even separation anxiety or other behavioral changes. Sadly, both of my childhood pets had passed away before I went away to college so I've never experienced this – have you?

Should You Be Able to Say Anything Negative on the Internet? It's quite the litigious news day for the Internet, what with the news that a Yelp user is being sued for his negative review of a doctor, and a model is suing Google because of anonymous nasty comments about her which were posted on a Blogger-hosted blog. Disregarding the validity of each case, they both present interesting cases for how we should and shouldn't use the Internet; as for Yelp, you're supposed to be able to post negative reviews (reviews tending to be one way or the other); will each negative claim be investigated? Could I be sued for not being able to prove that I found a hair in my burrito?

Are Four-Named Babies the Newest Trend? Trends come in threes or is it fours? Last week's births of Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell's twins, Dolly Rebecca Rose O'Connell and Charlie Tamara Tulip O'Connell, as well as Bristol Palin's baby, Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, I think we may be on to something - the four-named child. These new parents aren't the only ones around Hollywood (and Alaska) to jump on the bandwagon.

Do You Blog About Your Tot? This year, for the very first time, my friend told me she didn't receive a single "holiday letter" updating her on the milestones and successes of her friends' tots. She attributes this to the fact that many of those mamas keep personal blogs that chat up their children, showcase kiddie art projects, and talk about their children moving beyond diapers and packing for trips. Do you take to the web to share information about your family?

Do You Really Worry About Your Youngster Dating? Benji Madden is the latest person hopping on the overprotective bandwagon when it comes to his lil darling, niece Harlow, dating. The twin brother to the baby's daddy, Joel, said he'd have a shotgun ready when the 11-month old's callers eventually come a knocking. While most moms and dads don't delight in the thought of someone eventually taking out their tot, the tough talk is usually tongue-in-cheek.

Have You Been Buying Accessories Instead of Clothes? Opening your closet to constantly find the same old staring back at you might make you feel uninspired, but it seems more people are making due with their limited discretionary income by accessorizing the clothes they already have. While most retailers did not fare well in 2008 and it's expected they will continue to struggle in 2009, the accessories market is projected to increase by 24 percent before the end of 2012. Analysts are particularly bullish on handbags and neckties.
