To all of you boss ladies out there, Happy Boss's Day! October 16 marks the holiday for showing our bosses how much they are valued, and with 56 percent of you respecting your superior it seems there is a lot of thanks to go around.
Boss's Day might be slightly uncomfortable for someone that isn't used to singing her boss's praises directly, but as long as it comes off as a genuine thank-you your boss will welcome your effort in reaching out.

Usually when October hits, I'm in a panic just trying to get my Halloween costume together. But this year, as retailers start to gear up for the holiday shopping season, I'm wondering, why not follow suit?
According to recent Wal-Mart research, 70 percent of the store's customers plan to start shopping for holiday items before Halloween, so it's no wonder that the company has already announced its holiday spending incentive — a deal that offers a list of 100 toys for just $10 each.

Bank of America announced a new credit card that comes with, wait for it, a simple one-page explanation of terms and conditions. The BankAmericard Basic Visa card will be available in October and features a fixed rate tied to prime and a flat fee of $39 for late payments. Here's more:
- The fixed rate is equal to the prime rate plus a margin of 14 percent, and the rate is the same whether you're making a purchase or taking a cash advance.
- The rate isn't tied to a customer's payment history or credit rating like most credit cards.
- There are no fees for going over the credit card limit.
The BankAmericard Basic Visa card doesn't come with a decent interest rate any way you look at it — the APR surpasses 17 percent — but it seems like it might be an option for people who have had credit problems in the past.

Have you noticed there's been a whole lot of gab about a blanket with sleeves lately? The Snuggie ($19.95) has taken the infomercial scene by storm, though it's not the first invention of its kind. Two other blankets with sleeves were on the market for a few years before the Snuggie appeared in 2008.

Retailers are writhing from a rough year and are now hoping for their own kind of bailout. Their proposition doesn't exactly come out and ask the government for a sum of cash, but the federal government would essentially be flexing its money muscle.
According to The Wall Street Journal, The National Retail Federation (NRF) has proposed three periods of sales tax-free shopping in March, July and October 2009 that would each last 10 days.
