Dear Savvy,
There's something that's driving me totally nuts. One of the supervisors in the small company where I work keeps sending mass emails with a huge spelling error. The first time it happened, I thought it was an honest mistake and the result of writing the email too quickly.

I've certainly had my share of co-workers that made me wish I were invisible. And I'm definitely not alone — an online survey by a company that teaches communications skills to employees found that 93 percent of the 967 respondents claim they work with “nasty, unreliable, or eccentric employees.” Just one in four of the 93 percent actually confronted the co-workers that drove them crazy. While I'm not sure what the survey was implying with "eccentric" as a descriptive, nasty and unreliable are definitely identifiable characteristics in people you dread working with every day.

Most of you aren't fans of the government bailing out private banks, but the market reacted more than kindly to the government's announcement that it may create an agency to buy bad debt from banks. Bad debt refers to the mortgage-related assets that were the Achilles heel to once Wall Street giants Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns.
The market showed its largest percentage point gain in six years but is still down for the week.

Northwest Airlines has been dealing with some disgruntled customers after it announced it would switch from passing free pretzel packs to peanuts. The commotion didn't come from passionate pretzel-lovers or over-zealous peanut-haters, it came from people allergic to the controversial nuts, but it got me thinking about what would be a good substitute for the typical airplane snack.
Pretzels wouldn't be a bad alternative, but it doesn't solve the overwhelming thirst issue that results from salty snacks.

Despite a dip in gas prices at the end of the year, most SavvySugar readers estimate they spent between $1,000 to $2,000 on gas over the course of 2008, which certainly isn't chump change.
Every mechanic, car nut, or know-it-all has a pocket full of suggestions for minimizing gas usage, but the penny savers at Consumer Reports have put together some tested tips for saving on fuel I found incredibly informative. Check them out and start saving today.

If there's one Oprah show that gets the audience more riled up than any other, it's the one where she reveals her favorite gifts for the holidays. The audience goes nuts when they discover which of her favorite things they'll be receiving and everyone is on a big holiday/Oprah high. In the spirit of this economically grim season, she's doing things differently this year.

Aside from having paying jobs throughout college, I was always interning at one place or another. My friends and family thought I was nuts for stacking my schedule to the brim, but internships were an integral part of my education because I learned so much from those experiences.
They allow you to peek inside various jobs and make an assessment about whether or not they are something you'd want for your future, and hop around at a pace that wouldn't be acceptable as a higher-up employee.

A husband and father of two wrote to CNN Money's Do the Right Thing column, ultimately asking if he was nuts or if his wife was the crazy one. The guy's wife is disgusted with him for pushing their daughters to build a closer relationship with his elderly, childless great-aunt in hopes she will leave her fortune to them. He thinks it's a win-win situation: His great-aunt gets company and attention, and the girls will (hopefully) get a sizable inheritance.
