Lunchtime Poll: You Win Five Million But the World Is Going to End
Feb 19 2008 - 10:59am Heathers is one of those movies that I'll always watch when it's randomly on TV. Just classic. It made a cameo on my screen just the other day and I had to bring one of their famous lunchtime polls to you.

What's the use of doing anything with the check if the earth will be destroyed in two days? There won't even be enough time for the check to clear!!

I seriously dislike Paris but I would celebrate my birthday like she celebrates hers every year. I would literally jet around the world with every single person I cared about and have parties in the best places with the best food, champagne, DJs, you name it!

I don't understand investing or giving to the homeless if you're all going to die in 2 days anyway. New clothes and haircut, maybe... but not new home.

If I was absolutely sure that the aliens will definitely kill everybody off and that there's no talking them out of it, I think I'd share the wealth with my family, hop the next plane to someplace exotic and rent a sailboat. This is assuming that everything is operating as normal - I imagine it'd be hard to do anything with the panic that'd ensue from such events.

5 million? I would take family & friends to a tropical location for one last party. At least we'd all be together with our loved ones when we went out!

why can't i do all of the above? invest just incase we make it through, give some away to help others and get a new look and clothes to take on my trip around the world (or to the safest place where the Aliens haven't been yet) with my family and friends. its $5M thats a lot of money! I love Heathers. It is a classic!

Combination. Throw that money away like mad! Give it to strangers, treat the homeless to a meal, go shopping, throw a good chunk of it in the bank, throw a party!

One thing is for sure, enough of it would be put away that I would live comfortable for the rest of my life should the world NOT blow up. But the rest of it? Disposable income!!

Plus how much money can you really spend in two days, anyway? And wouldn't there be rioting in the streets and widespread panic?! (I've watching to many end-of-the-world movies!)

if the check cleared, i'd take my family to somewhere close (less flying time) and just enjoy the last few days together. maybe in the woods or something? maybe we'd be saved if we were secluded.

    combination for me too!
    1. save some (just in case the world doesn't blow up)
    2. purchase a super cool military silo and stuff it with food and supplies for all my friends and family to to ride out the blow up in (just in case the aliens decide to kill off the humans but use the plantet) lol
    3. enjoy it! give it to friends, people on the street, the homeless...anyone who can spend their last days enjoying the money

I would start spending it on pure entertainment. After all, what's the point in investing it or spending it on lasting items if the world is supposed to end?

But I wouldn't spend more than half of it, since there's a chance the world might still be there.

Something Else - I'd charter a plane, and take all my family and friends to some exotic beach in some exotic land. We'd sip cocktails and get a tan without a worry that the world is about to come to an end!

I'd buy a fantastic (translated: magnanimous) house and throw a huge party.

Barring that, I'd take my kids out for a great day at Good Times or something, and make sure my entire family had rooms on the top floors of one of the best hotels in the city (or in the next major city). Maybe catch some theater....?

If I still felt like it after that, I'd start/join a rebellion and see if I could help do something about it.
