I quizzed you a couple weeks ago on Money magazine’s list of the least stressful jobs. Now CNN Money has compiled another list — this time of the most stressful and most underpaid jobs out there, according to their survey.
The results are based on median salary and the percentage of respondents that rated their jobs as stressful.

Difficult to pronounce last names might elicit some middle school teasing, and unfortunately name-based discrimination doesn't end once the days of playground recess are long gone. According to a study performed for the National Bureau of Economic Research, résumés with "white-sounding" names have a 50 percent greater chance of receiving a response from employers compared to applicants with African American names.
CNN Money spoke with a few job seekers with "ethnic-sounding" last names who are convinced their names are turning off employers from giving them a chance.

Cost is preventing some of us from taking long and lazy Summer vacations, and CNN reports that fear is holding back some workers from planning a getaway. These employees have vacation days to spare, but are afraid their bosses will figure out a way to eliminate their jobs during their time away from the office.
Cindy Goodman, a Miami Herald columnist, has advice for worried workers: "If you're too afraid to ask for an extended vacation, plan four-day weekends or time off around holidays."

An excellent credit score will get you the best interest rates, so you want to ensure lenders will see your score at its very best. You already know that it's a bad idea to apply for new credit in the months leading up to applying for a loan, but CNN Money has another tip regarding the credit cards you already own.
To play it safe, they recommend keeping your cards under wraps during the month before you know you'll be applying for a loan and explain that, "Even if you pay off your balances at the end of the month, there's a chance a lender might pull your score the day before those payments are recorded, making it look as though you're tapping your credit."

Having roommates has its financial and social benefits when you're in college or a young professional, but most of us expect the time will come when we live alone or just with our nuclear family. The recession seems to be changing that. According to CNN more and more professionals (often homeowners) are taking in roomies to help cover the cost of a mortgage and make up for frozen salaries and unexpected health care cost increases.

Talk about a study of market pricing! Cafe owner Sam Lippert has taken prices off his menu and instead asks patrons to pay what they think his food is worth. He came up with the idea when he realized people were eating out less, and it's paying off — business is up between 50 to 100 percent, and he is thinking of making some of his part-time staff full-time employees.
