The Secret to This Company's Success? A Four-Day Workweek

Who knew the key to success was to work less? Employees at Treehouse, an online education company, work four days a week with regular pay. And if you think it affects the company's success, you're right. However, you may be surprised to learn that it's actually impacting the firm for the better, not worse. The yearly revenue growth for the company is 120 percent. It generates $10 million in sales annually and has a customer base of over 70,000 students.

CEO Ryan Carson believes that this schedule elicits higher quality work. "Thirty-two hours of higher quality work is better than 40 hours of lower quality work . . . I find I just can't wait to get back to work [after the weekend]," he tells ThinkProgress. Carson believes others share the same attitude and "everyone's invigorated and excited" on Mondays.

Not only are employees more efficient with their time, but this policy goes a long way in retaining workers. For example, one of the workers gets recruitment emails from Facebook, which he always counters with, "Do you work a four-day week yet?"

I'm sure the extra time employees get to spend with family or on leisure activities can't be beat. After all, more time to spend on people you love and things you love doing is just something money can't buy.
