i think that this could be something that's interesting depending on what the distribution will be and how you can get it. i know that for myself in my office - a lot of us just run out to the soup guy on the corner and get a cheap cup of soup since that seems to be easiest on our limited time, but if these lunches are easily accessible, then anything's an option.

Good for her, but up to a year without refrigeration?!? how is that possible? that sounds like it would be bad for you, i.e. full of sodium and preservatives.

You know, I agree 356, something called "Fresh" mixers that lasts for a year without refrigeration is an oxymoron. How can it be fresh if it's so shelf stable for that long.

Sadly, though, it's probably better for you than a lot of the fast food meals people end up grabbing.

Me, I pack to save money and be healthy. I usually skip work lunches -- they usually cost at least $8 to go out and get a salad similar to what I'd pack any way.

I've already tried the "Sweet & Sour Chicken with Rice" Fresh Mixer.. and it's was pretty good. And I hate.. absolutely abhor pre-made boxed meals. Anything that you need to microwave... I hate it. But, I am desperate for something warm to eat for the winter so I tried one of these out. I also bought the Rotini & Marinara sauce. I think I will try that one out tonight. Hopefully it will be as good as the Sweet & Sour...

That sounds like an MRE (Meal Ready to Eat). MREs pack like 2000 calories or something crazy high. That's what I bring when I go do outdoorsy stuff. Pour some water in the heating pack, and voila! Way cheaper and easier to carry than fuel canisters, burners, and cookware.

I think choosing her to sell budget-friendly boxed food is like having Marie Antoinette sell healthy snacks.

Hmmm Im in NYC only a block away from the Grace Building but I dont Im going to pick up a sample. One year without refrigeration just doesnt sound right....at all. Nice idea though.

I actually think she's a good choice. Even though she's not in the demographic the product is aimed at, I believe she's different from the majority of other "trust-fund babies". Her parents are rich, yes, but she's had a large hand in developing and working in her father's companies. She's worked for (at least some of) what she has and can relate to some people in that way.

As for the mixers, I think I saw a commercial for them yesterday. I thought the idea of having pasta-to-go was genius but not necessarily for me... and the whole 1 year thing... what about the sauce?! yuck

I think she's a good spokesperson for this if they're target young and ambitious office workers. I've read a few articles about her and she seems pretty thrifty and frugal (in a good way) considering she probably could afford more expensive things but I read she buys inexpensive bags to save money but stylish non-brandname bags. That's pretty cool. I think she's pretty real and down-to-earth from what I've read.

Follow-Up: The Rotini & Zesty Marinia was also pretty good. I'm really surprised. Normally I expect microwaved foods to be nasty but these are pretty good...so far.

I saw these in the grocery store and checked it out for a long time! I just couldn't bring myself to buying something that seemed so full of preservatives! However, I do understand that the packaging process has a lot to do with the extensive shelf-life. But still!
