Are You Doing Your Own Taxes or Hiring Someone Else?

I haven't sat down with my tax man yet, but our official date is approaching. I consider myself a tax smart gal — I'm SavvySugar, after all — but when it comes to getting my financial business finished I turn to a professional. He's the keeper of great advice (for example, last year he suggested taking pictures of donations) and he knows the nitty-gritty details that I don't. Of course, I know millions of Americans prepare their taxes alone, or with the help of online services and do just fine. What's your plan for this year?

Ours are pretty easy, so we always do them ourselves. My BIL has his own business, so he always hires an accountant to do his.

My mom prepares taxes part time as well, and unless you own property, it should be pretty easy to do on your own. My mom notices that young people can do it on their own, but people afraid of computers need her help

My hubby does taxes as one of his careers, so he does our taxes. @esmerb, ask friends for tax preparer recommendations; it shouldn't cost hundreds if it is straight forward.

I usually do my own, but I bought a house in 09 so I'm kinda scared to do my own, but I also don't want to pay hundreds of dollars. I wish I knew someone trustworthy and knowledge that could do my taxes.

I am doing my own, I have been doing it for the last three years and I like going through the process; it really helps me understand everything better.

Really depends on how much you earn and etc. I did my own because I worked in taxes so that is not hard for me since I had to learn for my job. ;-)

My hubby is doing our taxes. That was one of the discussions we had before we got married because I HATE doing taxes! He doesn't mind doing them so it all worked out. :)
