One of the common questions used to weigh whether or not a career track is right for you, is to ask if you could see yourself doing your boss's job. The corner office may seem appealing when compared to your cubicle, but observing the real responsibilities and day-to-day decisions made in that office might make you think twice about making yourself comfortable in your boss's chair.

No way. He is a Doctor and I respect his position/title but it's something that I could never do.
Good God, no.
I am training to do my boss' job (I am an oncology fellow), so let's hope I want it! Haha.
My boss handles so much. Maybe one day I'll feel equipped enough to handle it but right now I'm intimidated!
My boss takes a lot of grief from the bottom and from the top. No thank you!
I don't want to have to mess with office politics all the time so...no way!
Getting his job would ultimately be the point... I'm getting my Ph.D. so I can be a PI with my own lab someday.
My boss has offered me his job before (for when he leaves), but I don't want it...except the paycheck.
Definitely not. I don't want to manage anyone anytime soon. I'd rather take the career path that involves independent work and working from home.
No way, Jose! My boss works like 12 hours a day and has to deal with all sorts of behind-the-scenes crapola that keeps everything running smoothly. If anyone ever calls in sick and we don't have anyone that can cover, she works for them. I wouldn't want her job, but I'm glad she's there!
I wouldn't want my VP's job, but I wouldn't mind my immediate supervisor's job. I can easily do it, plus I'm getting asked a lot of questions about various things by my manager anyway.
Yes I would definitely want my boss's job - it's like, one of my dream jobs.
NO! He's making a LOT of money and gets to meet cool people, but it's all about endless boring meetings, and travelling all the time. I would hate it.
I said yes, but i wouldnt want it TODAY! I don't know enough about the business world yet.
I work at a very small company, so he's the owner and creative director. I can't imagine how much stress he goes through, so nope, I don't want his job!
Hell no.
i've felt for the longest time that i was ready to do my bosses job but based on the way that my company is structured, there's not a high likelihood that it'll happen since there's really no where for her to go up.
Yes, I want my boss's job. Crazy hours, long meetings and all. With enough hard work, I think I can get there.
Not at all...yes, I make way less, but I also work set hours and don't ever have to take work home with me. That's the whole reason I left my last job. I want to start a family in a couple of years, and would love to actually have time to devote to them!
