Would You Want to Wear a Uniform to Work?

Some people enjoy having to dress professionally every day, and dressing the part can help keep you on your game. But for some, having to put on a certain type of outfit is more uncomfortable than anything and it can be expensive to build a work wardrobe apart from your casual one.

There are several careers that call for uniforms, like policewomen, pilots and flight attendants, firewomen, and anyone in the medical field. And while most uniforms aren't entirely flattering or made of the most comfortable materials, there's something enticing about not having to choose an outfit each day or having to invest in work clothes.

I wear scrubs to work and have always been able to choose my colors/patterns and whether to wear a scrub jacket or a long sleeved T-shirt. Now we hear our office to changing so that we all have to wear the same color. AND we are going to have to buy them! No raise this year but we are going to have to buy new scrubs. How does this help us care for the patients which is the most important thing in a doctor's office? I can understand our office wanting us to look professionally dressed but we already do.

Our dress code is a little too detailed and bothersome for me, so I'd love to wear a uniform. I work for the city so I'd like to wear khaki pants and a polo shirt with the city logo. Simple.

love it! easy in the morning when my brain is unable to select appropriate combo's :) i don't care what i'm wearing if the pay is good. the worst job dress requirement i had was when i worked in retail. you had to wear that seasons looks every freakin day. who can affor that on retail pay? also, just because the calendar says spring doesn't mean the weather cooperates. i was freezing or sweating a couple months a year.

I don't mind the uniform because it keeps the workplace from becoming a fashion show.

It would be cute but also I like changing clothes with moods and styles every different day :-D

I have a semi uniform for work, and I love it. Work regulated polo's and khaki's or work blues. It's mostly casual so if I really wanted on the odd occasion I could wear blue jeans, or instead of my work shirt I could dress up in a pants suit. The bottom line is, there's no competition. I'm the only girl technician at my company and dressing like everyone else in my department just makes the day go by easier and doesn't remind everyone of the gender gap (which does exist if noticed).

hell no! having to figure out what to wear to work forced me to develop a personal style, which i think is an important factor in how people perceive you. nothing perks me up quite like putting on my favorite outfit in the morning...

I have to wear uniform shirts daily and I hate it, I have a different shirt for each day of the week. Then I pre-choosen color pants of my choice with it. I just hate that when the shirts are picked out every 6 months they are shirts that I would never wear. The woman with the least amount of style in the office picks everything out.

Hells yeah I would! I would love to be able to wear something comfortable like scrubs or the uniform the people who work at the gym have to wear. Sigh. That is my dream. To wear PJ like clothes all day long.

I am realllly hoping my uniform days are over. Between the military and the hotel job, I am pretty much done with uniforms.

I would be okay with a nice shirt that I could wear... but not pants or shoes. I would like to pick those!

I can wear whatever I want to work, so I love it. I can dress in jeans and a T-shirt (with heels of course--I don't want to look sloppy!) or I can wear a dress if I want. I like having options. Work is like a fashion show for me, especially since most people in my office wears Derby shirts from years' past and ugly jeans.

If I could wear hoodies and jeans to work everyday I'd be in heaven, lol. I didn't miss having to do the whole "what am I going to wear" thing when I had jobs that required uniforms.

luckily, i work in a very casual business environment, where jeans and flip flops are perfectly acceptable. i wear jeans, but with nice cardigans and such.

Having worked in retail I had to wear the crappy uniform from that store... it sucked but at least I didn't have to worry about what to wear.

I enjoy being able to wear whatever I want to work. I work in an extremely casual environment so jeans are always acceptable!

give me scrubs any day! when you have to wake up at 5am, its such a pain having to figure out how to dress professionally!

I would want to dress up because it changes your mentality. I worked from home for a while and if I didn't dress up, I didn't want to work--but that depends on your job. I don't work, but I still dress like I work in the corporate world sometimes because otherwise I'd never get to!
