Would You Appear on a Wedding TV Show to Save Money?

Setting a wedding budget should be one of the very first steps to planning the big day, and often couples are overwhelmed by the reality of how much their dream wedding could cost. While some engaged couples simply make the best possible event with the resources they do have, others won't settle for anything less than the best of the best of everything.

To soften the blow of going into a pile of debt for getting married, some couples apply for reality TV shows (like Whose Wedding Is It Anyway? and Bridezillas) that often award featured weddings with a check or honeymoon package. Would you consider appearing on a wedding show to save money?

unless it was a HUGE discount, i'd have to say no. the place that i got my wedding dress from is the store that does 'Say Yes to the Dress' on TLC, and they don't give you a discount to be on the show. even with that - i can't say that i'd want to embarrass my self on national TV

There's no way I would have done that, even if I had been desperate for money. They make the bride out to be this horrible person and they always seem to ignore what the groom's doing...hello, last I checked, weddings involve a bride AND a groom. Plus, those shows where they have a designer on them to improve the wedding always seem to make fun of the bride's ideas. Like, if you aren't a professional, you have absolutely no business even trying to plan a decent wedding.

My solution is to plan a wedding that doesn't involve going into debt so I don't have to go on national television. I'm not entertaining enough to be on a reality show anyway, so I'd hate to see what drama they'd create for me!

No, I would never go on any sort of reality TV show. I caught an episode of "Whose Wedding is it Anyway?" last weekend of this couple who was paying $1 million to get married at the NY Metropolitan Library and the bride was CRAZY. Sure, they had a lot of money at their disposal, but it led to all sorts of fighting between the two of them right up to the wedding. I would not want to subject my relationship (and what should be a very happy, if not stressful time), to that.

I would go on "A Wedding Story" on TLC [if that is still running] I think Indian weddings are so crazy and drama filled anywayz ... so I think it would be a taste of their own medicine if tv audiences saw how crazy my mom can be. She's used to being in the spot light, and I'm used to being the really chill person in comparison.

I'm sure that the money's great, but it seems like they manage to portray people in the worst way they can, and make little fights up, and edit things to sound snarky and insulting. The long-lasting damage to my relationships with my friends and family just wouldn't be worth being able to afford arriving to my wedding by jumping out of a helicopter, sorry.
