"I think the first one would just be the cyber bullying. Going through that really reminded me of high school. I remember getting bullied and it was very reminiscent and weirdly nostalgic but not in a good way. I learned a really important lesson, which was that sometimes it’s best not to argue with those who are bullying you because no one can win. Someone is set on their own opinion and you can’t really change their mind. You’re wasting more time trying to proving a point when you should focus on the people who really admire and care for you, and want the best for you. So now I don’t really focus on the negative comments, I focus more so on the comments where people are asking me real genuine questions. I try my best to answer them and pay more attention to the good side than the bad side.
It’s really easy to fall down into the bad side. You can get 10 compliments in a day but if one person says 'you look really ugly today,' you’ll always remember that line. It’s human nature — I don’t know why — but we just do that. So I had to teach myself how to let go and focus on the positive in a constructive criticism.
You just have to build a thick skin. It comes along with age, which is why I feel like a lot of the young girls going online are really impressionable and they feel really sad because of course the comments are so raw and unfiltered so that’s why I tell my sister, who wants to do YouTube videos, too, to not do it yet and to wait until she is mentally ready for the criticism because it can only destroy you."
