You may be worried about your stuffing and pumpkin pie recipes or finding a festive Thanksgiving outfit, but airlines, airports and transportation services are gearing up for one of the busiest weeks of the year.
In fact, according to the US Department of Transportation, the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s holiday periods are officially the busiest long-distance travel periods of the year. During the six day Thanksgiving travel period, the number of long-distance trips (to and from a destination 50 miles or more away) increases by 54 percent compared to the average number the rest of the year.
Will you be staying put, leaving on a jet plane or driving to your Thanksgiving destination?

First time in 10 years I'm not traveling for the holidays! Now that my hubs and I live nearer to our families, there's no need.
1Flying to be with my family. I want them to come visit me some year for the holidays, but it just doesn't make sense financially, since they all live in the same place and there's just one of me!
2One word: Family
3Hubby and I are driving to Berlin
We are living in Germany alone so it's not really
worth it to fly to the states just for the weekend.
4We're driving 2 hours to my parents' house to have dinner with my family...nothing too major.
5Staying at home, just our little family of 6. No other family joining us (they all live on the other side of the country) and no other guests coming over.
6I flew to be with my family. My grandma was just diagnosed with early set Alzheimer - we are doing a combination of Thanksgiving and Christmas with all the family for her this year before she really starts to forget her.
