Eating meals out, for sure. I've been able to curb my spending on things like clothes that I don't need and I'll go months without buying a video game (gaming is an expensive hobby if you keep up with the latest games).
I'm constantly forgetting to pack a lunch so I end up eating at the cafe next door or the deli down the street a LOT. Fortunately, the fiance and I have been pretty good about not really eating out for dinner. It's a start, but last I check, Mint.com pointed out that aside from bills, food is my biggest expenditure.
i think that eating out might be mine. during the day i'll think about what i want for dinner and i know that we don't have the supplies at home so i just want to go out.
as for shopping - i have this little problem where i see something and i really want to get it by 9 times out of 10 i learn to control myself.
Meals out. I have learned to tame my shopping -- I pretty much gave up. I have lots of clothes and stuff already, I don't need more. As if I need meals out and more weight gain. Ugh.
I would say both, but I think eating out wins. The problem is that I never think twice about eating out but I agonize over whether I should buy a pair of shoes or not. Don't know why. It's also why I don't think twice when my total food bill at the end of the night comes to £80 but I'd definitely think twice before paying that much for a top or dress.
Shopping, hands down. I have a particular weakness for cute shoes. Generally, I don't like most shoes out in the market, so if I come across a rare one I do like, God help me, I MUST have it. I will stockpile multiple pairs, and in different colors. My nutty reasoning is that I RARELY find shoes I like (However, because I end up stockpiling them, I offset those times I don't purchase. LOL). My husband does not understand. He doesn't understand why there are so many shoes for one pair of feet. :)
I tend to go out for strictly drinks, since my budget is tight, so I don't really drop a done of cash on it these days. I set a dollar amount for shopping, and try to figure out how much I can but - I did really well today, but some days I come home empty handed!
I'm going with meals. I love shopping, but I really need to "love" something before I spend money on it.
But with food, and especially drinks, I've easily dropped 200 (and more) on one night of dinner and drinks with the girls...but with every purchase (from $15 tank at H&M or a $600 bag) I need to think long and hard if I really "need" it
Shopping, for sure. I like to cook at home and I have sort of a thing about eating the foods I like. I'm much more likely to go buy a new outfit or something like that to cheer me up than to go out to dinner.
I'm going to go with meals. Here is my bizarre reasoning: Shopping tends not to be a fun time for me because I've heavier than I would like so I always end up getting stressed out. Eating out is nice because its special and I do it with people I love so its always a great experience.
I wonder if there is a correlation between my love of eating out and feeling stressed buying new clothes, lol.
