The holidays are over and most of us are back to the daily grind. No matter how carefully you plan ahead, or how early you show up for a flight or rental car, holiday travel can be a landmine.

Whether you went by plane, train, or automobile, did you encounter any travel snafus over this holiday? From missed flights and missing bags to late arrivals or departures, let us also feel your pain by sharing stories in the comments below!

A 3 ½ hour drive ended up taking 8 hours because of traffic issues caused by snow... that was one long trip!

We were the lucky one, we were in the last plane landed at London Heathrow airport before the airport shut down on Dec 18. Took us over an hour to get to the gate and 5 hours to get out the airport. The underground and bus were not in service for hours. Luckily we were able to catch the other plane on the next Tuesday headed to Germany. We were really really lucky!!

We drove to the many functions we had, and didn't experience any problems!

Nope; everything went very smoothly. My husband's flight on Wednesday came in on time and we drove to Madison with very little traffic.

No our flight wasn't delayed and luckily there wasnt too much traffic while we were in San Francisco. The only hiccup would be the long line at the security gate coming back home on a red-eye. It took nearly 30 minutes just to get to the security doors and another 20 to get through actual security. Also, the gate attendant was giving my sister a hard time since she had her laptop bag a purse and her suitcase. She made a valid point because the guy let a woman ahead of her go on with four bags but she wasn't allowed with hers. Luckily she didnt have to check her bag but he was a bit of an ass and said "If I see one of the other bags in the overhead, you will be paying to check your bag".
