Tough times have made us all a bit more cautious about whipping out our wallets on a whim. When it comes to spending with discretion, it's important to have priorities about things you think are worth the money, and those items or services that are not. Here are 11 things that I think are worth it.

Good list. While some may not see the advantages of immersing oneself in the culture or spending money on a good haircut, both have numerous benefits. That's not to say that in order to get a good haircut or experience culture you have to spend an arm and a leg. In fact, often times, you do not have so spend much at all if anything to enjoy culture or a good haircut. Just because it is worth it to spend money on a good haircut doesn't mean that you have to spend a lot of money to get one. Depends on where you go and who you know. Likewise, you don't have to spend a lot of money to gain cultural knowledge or experiences--go to a local market, find a free or discounted exhibit or show, etc. Broaden your horizons and get to know the world in which you live better!

culture can be pursued free @library's some museum's etc. and haircuts @ a great hair dressing school can be a great lift and good value....also you can just get your bangs cut or feathered for a freshened up feeling....

I disagree with haircut and culture.

I disagree with the haircut as well. I think car maintenance should be on the list though, because your life could depend on it.

I agree with most everything but the haircut and travel - Guess what! Some things can and should wait. If you can't afford it, you can't afford it - bottom line. Instant gratification and living beyond means is exactly what brought us to this point. If you have been laid of, or your house is in foreclosure, travel is at the bottom of the list of priorities such as utilities, food, insurance, etc!
