What Are Your Summer Vacation Plans?

I don’t know about you, but the sunshine and longer days already have me daydreaming about a Summer vacation. I tend to prefer road trips over air travel for my warm-weather getaways; they’re more affordable, and I love being on my own schedule, sipping Icees, and blasting tunes. And it sounds like I may be in luck: analysts are predicting that gas prices won’t climb any higher than $3 a gallon this Summer.

I’m thinking a week in June, driving up the coast to a beach town, or maybe even wine country. Have you started making any Summer vacation plans yet? If so, share your savvy travel plans with us!

I'm moving to London in the fall, so I'll be going a month early to just vacation, find an apartment, and get settled. Before that, my family is going to our wonderful Victorian lake house in Minnesota.

My boyfriend and I are roadtripping from Ottawa, Canada through Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine, back up through Quebec. I'm SO excited! I'm from the Midwest and have never been to this area of the country before - it's going to be beautiful!

In July, I'm spending 2 days In Washington, D.C. wandering around the Smithsonian. Then, renting a car and driving down to Virginia Beach for the weekend to see friends and get my beach fix for the year.

I am envious of all the trips to Europe. I have a pretty low key summer planned. Weekend trips with the family to northern Michigan to my family's lake house and maybe a trip to North Carolina for a wedding.

My partner and I are driving around Italy for 4 weeks with his sister and mother who we haven't seen for nearly a year. I think it's going to be an amazing summer.

So far my summer plans are going to San Diego for my nephews college graduation and then to Oregon for a few days.

As usual, we will be visiting the parents while they are on their vacations. They get a condo on the beach, and we drive over to stay with them for a couple of nights. It's not much of a vacation for us, but it beats having to pay for plane tickets to visit them!

Flying to southern Europe, and roadtripping with some friends along the Mediterranean. I can hardly wait. We've been planning this for three years (ever since we jokingly began talking about it) but we really started the ordering of plane tickets, booking a rental car, and booking hotels this year. I'm crossing my fingers that Icelandic ash won't interfere with the flight down. (And then it can do whatever it would like for two weeks, before I have to fly back again).
