Do You Have Any Store-Specific Credit Cards?

They wore me down, folks. After years of resisting a Gap card, I caved. I realized my basics shopping could be stacking up points and if I time my shopping just right, I can get a solid discount. I highly recommend picking a credit card that can help you earn points and sorting out rewards so you actually use them, but it can be more hassle than it's worth in many cases. Do you carry store-specific cards? And if so, which ones?

No, they all seem to have ridiculous interest rates. I have have a few cards to collect points for gas, movies, pet stuff and groceries, but none that are attached to credit.

Macy's, the discounts are usually good and I pay it off every month.

Nope, I do not see the point in the cards. I have maybe two discount cards however nothing gets charged to them, just extra savings on the receipt.

Nope. I have rewards cards for Walgreens, Safeway and Albertson's. But no actual store credit cards.

I have a Macy's card but I've never used it. I also have a Victoria's Secret Angel card and that card gets used a whole bunch! But it's good because with the card I got in college and the Angel card I've managed to build up my credit and now it's "Excellent" WIN!!!

The only one I have is a Macy's card because I work there and I have to use it to get my employee discount. I'm pretty good about paying it off though.

I bought a couch at Pier1 and applied for their card -- it was during a double points promotion and I racked up $100 in gift certificates. (And had the cash to pay the balance off the first month, so it was FREE money to spend in the store... I still haven't decided what to purchase with it!)

Victoria's Secret and Macys

I used to have Macy's, JC Penny and Old Navy/Gap. After ruining my credit (thanks, Macy's, for making me only get an employee discount if I spend on my CC for clothes I need to have for work but you didn't pay me enough to buy!) I closed my JC Penny card and let my Old Navy card fall on the wayside, because I didn't know anything about how to use those cards to my advantage. Had I kept them, or at least my JC Penny card, I would've had more cards with a long history on them, even if I rarely used them and that looks good! Now, I just have my BECU line of credit, credit card and my Macy's card. My Macy's card I always pay off the same day I put money on it - I really only ever use it to get in-store discounts and to keep my card from going inactive.

I've got 3, two of which I don't use anymore. Best Buy (still in use), JC Penney, & Victoria's Secret (not in use)

I have a few (Victoria's Secret, Nordstrom, Express), but I pay them off every month that I've actually charged something on them. I also have a Best Buy one that's a regular Mastercard and an Old Navy one that's a regular Visa but I can only use the points at those stores.

The only one I still have is Nordstrom's. Have cancelled the rest along the way. I do miss the discounts but it is safer for me to only have a few credit cards which get paid off each month.

I only have one bank-credit card. I rarely use it, their is a balance- but it nothing too crazy like some people I know. Its unfortunate...

I have a Kohl's charge...although I don't think it gives you points (but there are discounts every so often). I'm thinking about getting rid of it though since I don't go there as often anymore.

Which DON'T I have is the real question haha... Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Victoria's Secret, Express, Old Navy. I have near 0 balances on just about all of them though. I do like having them them to stack up points as you said & getting rewards by doing so.

Not in the same sense of GAP or that kind of thing, but I do have a credit card that earns points at a particular grocery store and you can only redeem the points there. But it's a regular VISA.
