Upcyle Plastic Containers Into Chic Storage

You just scooped the last of the coffee or scraped the final coconut oil from the megacontainer. Instead of tossing it in the recycling, give the container a quick refresh and upcycle it into smart kitchen storage. Here's what to do.

  1. Wash the container, making sure there isn't any residue or food lurking. You can also remove any outside stickers using homemade Goo Gone as needed.
  1. Take the container outdoors or to a well-ventilated area, and shield your space with paper bags. Flip the container over so the open end is facing down, and spritz it with your favorite color of spray paint. Touch up as needed.
  1. Once dry, add a chalkboard sticker to the outside, so you'll always know what you're storing. Screw on the lid, and your new container is ready to help organize your kitchen.
