pharm_chick shared this savvy cost saving suggestion when I asked for wedding budget tips.

I got married overseas so I was able to have an all out traditional Indian wedding and still not pay as much as I would've here since halls, flowers and food are much cheaper there (and aren't those the most expensive parts of the budget anyway?)

oh and ps... the parents picked up the tab for the indian wedding, indian reception and reception here. so that was the icing on the cake, lol

its super cool to be featured here btw :-) actually, a good percent of my in-laws live in india, or did at the time i got married anyway. and in my family, many people actually travel overseas for summer vacations anyway, and thats why i chose to get married in august. my wedding guest list was, and im not exaggerating AT ALL, was almost 800. its crazy how many people my parents and my husbands parents know lol. we had a small reception when we came back here by renting a VFW hall, catering from this up and coming chef (who did a great job btw) and everyone that couldnt make it was happy :-)
