I'm with you --- It sucks to get put in this position, but I applaud your willingness to consider change... Perhaps (I know this is the optimist within speaking here), when you tell your boss that you're moving on and up, he will make you an offer so you can stay where you are... the downside is that you have to have something else in place first so if you don't get an offer from him, you can still move on - otherwise, if you bluff and fail, you will be back further than you started. Shayna, that is exactly the point I am at now, I am thinking of looking outside yet again. I just thought I found a home for at least a while. I just hate to get complacent but I really like my company.

Hi! Welcome :-) I agree --- there is a point where you are too good at your present job... I have found that the biggest career jumps I've made were not within a company but when I finally got fed up and jumped companies - effectively promoting myself.

Hello, this is a great type of group and I look forward to learning and participating with you ladies. It's very hard to be a hard worker and trying to climb the ladder and trying to be seen as more than your present position especially with your boss viewing you as indispensable to a certain position and to their work. I am trying so hard to overcome that hurdle with my current boss even though we discussed my 5-7 year plan that I wanted to grow within the company and how I wanted to grow.
