I've always considered packing the most frustrating part of taking a trip, but according to a new report by Forrester Research, many people consider the worst part of traveling to be the experience of booking a vacation online.
One of the company's analysts told the New York Times, "Travel companies expect the consumer to behave like a travel agent. The question I always ask these guys is, ‘Could your mother-in-law use your Web site without having to call you for help?’ The answer is always no." Do you consider the online planning and booking process to be the worst part of taking a trip?

No, the worst part is the airport.
1the worse part is hearing screaming babies on any flight. and the airplane food...it's not really food!!
2Agreed, the airport is the worst!
3i think that it's up there. i'm always afraid that i'm going to book my trip and im' going to find a better deal after i've already confirmed everything which is frustrating.
4It seems like people who get frustrated booking tickets online would just be people who are frustrated using computers in general.
5Definitely the airport!
I actually don't mind booking tixs online. I like to hunt around for the best deal.
6Though the airport is by far the worst to deal with. Planning and researching EVERYTHING about the trip is pretty exhausting...to me.
7Yep, I agree..the airport is by far the worst part. Especially if your flight gets cancelled or delayed.
8I concur the airport is the worse part. Coming home is next and dealing with everything that piled up while you were gone.
9I dunno, I've always liked the airport part, actually...it's pretty easy for me, and it makes me feel like I'm on the Amazing Race! I hate airport SECURITY and STUPID CHECKED BAGGAGE FEES, but other than that, the airport's a breeze for me.
The worst part really is booking the damn flight. It's awful hard to find a decent price for a flight that goes directly where you want to go without taking the whole freaking day to get there. Also, the prices online are misleading. I'm looking for a return flight for my dad right now, and it says that there's direct flights for $280 roundtrip...but I get to the website and they're charging $500!! And why the hell does a one way cost almost as much as the roundtrip?! Booking the flight online saves money, yeah, but it sure is a hell of a hassle.
10oh, and I use computers quite a lot (I'll be studying how people use them for a living!), but booking flights online? Nightmare 101. Unless I book at least 3 months in advance...but so much happens in between now and then, there's no point - especially if the tix aren't refundable and you can't change the dates.
11In this case, I'd say Forrester Research has lost it. Booking online is best thing that happened since apple pie. Grow up, it is the age of the Internet!
12airports are the worst because of flight cancelations and long lines at security, booking is only bad when U see the flight after for less money$$$$
