How Much of Your Paycheck Goes to Rent?

A huge chunk of our paychecks goes to the monthly necessities such as rent, food, and utility bills. For those of you who are renting, I'm wondering how much of your take-home paycheck goes to rent?

61% of one of my paychecks goes to rent. If you go by my whole monthly income, it's 31%

Around 40%. Its absurd, especially for living in a Midwestern town, but I'm a grad student.. so its more the paycheck's fault than the rent's.

I don't rent, but both my husband and I work fulltime and my paycheck goes entirely to our mortgage along with a lesser part of his check. It's ridiculous, and if the market gets better we will probably try to sell to get out of this mess.
