Brilliant or Baffling? Office Within the Office

This cubicle concept reminds me of a cross between a tree house and an office. It allows for privacy from what looks to be the waist up, and has little window openings so the worker inside doesn't feel so enclosed. What do you think of it?

i love the idea of privacy that you would get from that but to be honest, i don't know if i would want that sort of enclosure. it's a bit clostrophobic don't you think?

It might be a bit too much but i do wish i had more privacy at work! I would get lost in my own lil world and maybe even be more productive...although i would sometimes feel secluded from the rest of the office...interesting :)

Hmm... now that you mention Alice in Wonderland, I think it could make for a very whimsical office if they have bunches of these "cubes" and paint some woodland creatures and giant mushrooms all over the place. Not sure what kind of office would want to be quite that whimsical, though. Might be too twee even for the creative industry type offices.

If you're going to the trouble to build that, just go ahead and make separate small offices - that would waste resources, could feel claustrophobic, and makes the outer office look like an Alice in Wonderland set (imagine feet sticking out the bottom of that little house).

When I was little, I used to have one of those play houses/tents in my house ... you know, the kind you can totter into at the age of about 4, 5 or 6 and set up a fort with pillows. That's what it reminds me of, and that's why I could never work productively or seriously in a place that brings me back to my childhood! Though I have often wished for a roof over my head at work for privacy (I work in an open plan office)

I guess it would be easier to focus without the distractions...but can't they just build a wall?

I'd feel a bit claustophobic but I'd definitely love the privacy. I hate people looking over my shoulder. It makes me quite anxious sometimes.

I like it. It would be great to be able to close the door and block out the idle conversation that frequently occurs in my small office.

It looks kind of cute, but I wouldn't want to be caged up in it all day. It reminds me of a child's playhouse.

I don't think I'd like being boxed in, but the privacy would be nice at times.

It reminds me of that time Paris on Gilmore Girls went crazy and built herself a bunker at the school newspaper office. What's with the roof? Waste of electricity blocking the overhead lights and using its own lights inside. Though I can see it saving electricity when the cube dweller is the only one left at the office and there's no need for the overhead lights because the thing is self-lighting.
