Five Dollar Bill Is Getting a Purple Makeover

A new five dollar bill is coming to your wallet soon! And it's purple! Well, it's actually purple and green but I'm very excited that money here in the US is finally getting jazzed up a bit — way overdue, if you ask me. Portfolio has a very cool interactive diagram of the bill that allows you to see all of the new features that make it the most secure five dollar bill ever. I'm kind of obsessed with the big purple five on the back of the new bill — what do you think of the makeover?

i feel like this is the U.S.'s way of making our money look more like the Euro (especially since there are so many stores here in NYC that accept EUROS). you have to love how our money just keeps evolving into more modern looking things. why do we even have paper money anymore anyway?
