Thrift stores are reporting an increase in same-store sales for 2008, but they are concerned that the slowdown in donations will leave them without enough Winter stock. George Hood, national community relations and development secretary for the Salvation Army, explained, “Young women are looking in their closet and saying, ‘You know, I’m going to wear that a little longer instead of giving it away.'"
