If you want to celebrate with your Valentine by sharing a nice meal out, but are worried about the mark-ups some restaurants charge on the holiday, a solution may be to celebrate on Friday the 15th. You won't have to deal with paying extra for the same plate of food. Added bonus — you'll miss the crowds of couples! Exchange cards and rent a movie together on the 14th, and save your cute dinner outfit for Friday.

My husband and I have always done this - so much easier and so much less hassle. We go out the weekend before or the weekend after.
1Last year we went the day before. It wasn't crowded at all, but there was an ice storm.
2That's what my boyfriend & I have planned for this year...but it's because we have to bc he's out of town all week
but he definitely is making up for it.
3I'm thinking we might even postpone our night out until after the 15th...
we have about $300 in
bills to pay between phone and cable/internet and I don't think we'll have the means to go out and have some expensive dinner. We'll think of something, though.
4I would think that the day after would be more crowded this year, especially since it's Friday!
5What? To me that is like having Christmas on December 26th!
6My husband and I sometimes go out for Valentine's but usually I make him something special so we avoid the crowds... Then I always ask him to get me roses on the 15th, they are always at least half price so I get twice as much!! Yea I'm a cheapo, but whatever! It's all good!
7Wish I had the option, but it's our anniversary too. Blah.
cabaker - that's a great idea about roses on the 15th!
8we usually wait until the friday after vday, its much easier to get a table, and less "romantic pressure" we are going to a hockey game on the actual day, and then a nice dinner on friday the 15th.
9we're ordering pizza and drinking wine...that to me is just as romantic as a night out:)
10The best thing about this year is that right after Valentine's Day is the long President's Day weekend! Since hotels at most places are still not in season, those rates are cheaper and it makes for a great weekend to getaway and have a Valentine's long weekend rather than just Valentine's Day.
I'm excited about that!
11We do this anyways because he proposed on the 15th
12My boyfriend and I have been going to the same restaurant for all our anniversaries and Valentine's days. It's a beautiful, romantic restaurant, fairly cheap, etc. but it's a bit out of the way, so no one really goes there. No need to save up cash for an overpriced meal or making reservations. :]
13My husband I hate how spendy the holidays are. We've done this for as long as we have been together. We usually don't even go out to eat, We take home carry out and spend a quiet night just hanging out together. And not just on Valentine's Day. I've actually got a man who is very romantic on a regular basis, and we have been married 8 years!
14Good idea if I had a valentine lol
15I love enjoying a meal out but hate going out when every place is crowded...I want one on one attention from the kitchen not a thrown together plate because they're busy. I would prefer a different date for that reason.
16We always go out the day before valentines. No crowds, no lines, no pressure, just perfect.
