Happy Mother's Day! It's one day that all moms should have off, and not just because it's a Sunday.

One of the things to find out before having a baby is how much leave you'll be granted and how much you'll be paid for that time off. It will vary from company to company, but the differences are extreme when comparing leave policies in different countries. What do you know about maternity leave around the world? Take the quiz!

move to Canada! we get a year per child, and depending on the employer, you can make over 90% of your salary for that year.

Come to Norway, it's brilliant when it comes to some things! oh, and yes, it is more expensive than NYC, but we earn more as well =)
in my country you get the maternity leave in the length of 2, 3 or 4 years depends on which one you choose, the first 4months are paid by your employer, that's 100% of your salary and then you get 70% paid from the social welfare...

I'm waiting to have a baby until I'm with my company for 5 years, then I get something like 10 weeks of full paid maternity leave as opposed to 4.

We were just talking about this at my job. One of my co workers came back from visiting family in Norway and she told us that there isn't a lot of choice. It's sacrificed for the ability to have socialized medicine and shorter work week. One phone company, one electric company and things like that.
