A career is a work in progress, and it may take several steps before you can say that you consider your work a career. It is more of a path, whereas a job might be seen as simply a means to an end — like a paycheck. How would you describe your work situation; are you on a career path or is your work just a job to you?

I'd like to consider it a career, but I've only been in my current profession for 10 months. Isn't there some "rule" saying it's not a career unless you've been working in the same field for a year? Either way, I'll make it to a year and beyond, so it's my career!
This is def just a job for me. I'm only here for the money. I'm currently a full-time student and my job is not where I want to stay for the rest of my life. I'm planning on leaving here once I graduate.
I definitely consider my job in fashion to be my career.
I am in development/fundraising - right now for an educational institution. I definitely consider this my career. I enjoy my work and want to get more and more experience. Someday I would love to be the director of development at a nonprofit organization.
Job.
I consider myself in two careers. I am going to be a CPA and have my own bar. By day I do accounting and by night I pour drinks. Both work towards my main goal. I have been bartending for six years now and have been in accounting for three. I love both.
Mine is kinda both. It's a job because I know I won't have it once I finish school (i can move on to bigger better things) but at the same time I am learning SO much and taking in so much and have been here for close to two years so I consider it a career in that sense.
Job, maybe a career. I'll continue down this path for now, but I know my heart's not in it.
Job, wouldn't want this for a career.
I consider my job my career.
It's a job - it was something to take in desperation.
Job. When I worked in another department, I saw that as a career.
job. definitely just a job
i think that all things considered for right now - i would consider my job to be a career vs. just a job. i like what i do and i can see myself doing this for a long time. the only thing that would really change that is having a family and seeing if i can still work the way that i do now. it would be really hard since i pull long hours, but i guess that's one of those challenges that you figure out when the time comes.
definitely a career. so exciting in my field
Definitely a job. I plan on looking for a new one closer to home after my year is up here. Plus my raise was really insulting - it was less than the amount they raised the parking fees. Guh.
A job for now, but it could become a career...lots of opportunity here for it to go that way.
I'm lucky enough to be in my career!
Joooooob...
It's a job. If I really wanted to I could turn it into a career - But I don't (mentally) respect my boss enough.
stepping stone in my carreer field.
I consider it a job. Some people make it a career though.
I have a career. There has been a definite "path" to it.
I work in health policy and public health -definitely a career.
Chris Rock has a very funny bit about this topic!
I'm still in college, but I've got my mind set on having a career not a job. I'm going to do more schooling so when I leave, my first job will also be my career.
Career. I like my job, but realize that I'm improving my skills for a better job with a similar environment and topic.
Mmm, it's a job, but it's a part of my career path. It's at least in the field I'm ultimately interested in and I'm learning a lot, even if this particular job isn't where I want to stay forever.
