I'm Asking: When Was the Last Time You Had Buyer's Remorse?

Buyer's remorse sets in when we second (and third, and fourth) guess ourselves after making a purchase that usually falls more in the want than the need category. Sometimes it leads us to dragging ourselves back to the store and returning the item, and other times we simply get past the feeling with some clever rationalization. Can you remember the last thing you purchased that made you kick yourself with buyer's remorse?

Direct Buy membership. We're saving a ton of money right NOW but I'm scared to death they'll go out of business since so many businesses are!!

mondaymoos, I know what you mean, I had a "love at first sight" moment with a cute dress in a shop window - black and purple satiny material with a basket-weave style bodice - I even tried it on. But I felt like I couldn't justify buying a dress I probably wouldn't wear much. Then I changed my mind a week later and of course it was gone by then. Regular buyer's remorse: well, there was this dress I bought off ebay that looked nice in the picture but looks like a burlap sack in real life. And I bought a pair of shoes from another online retailer and it looked so much crappier than its picture. This is always a risk with online shopping. I never bother to send things back from online shopping because I'd have to eat the cost of shipping. Not very savvy of me, I know. But since the shoes incident, I haven't shopped online for months, so I guess those shoes ended up saving me money overall. Hee. As for shopping in actual stores - in my city, nobody has a return policy except for the higher-end places. You pretty much shop at your own risk. (Such is the culture here that I even got chewed-out once while returning something at a higher-end place that did, in fact, have a return policy). Seeing a lower price after I already bought something kills me with buyer's remorse like nothing else. I once bought a gadget for only a few bucks off the regular retail price, then a few days later, saw the same thing at another place for 40% off. Of course, this being a town of no-returns, I was SOL. Ooh, the remorse... it still burns. Heh.

I'm another Target sucker. I got $6 shoes off the clearance shelf last Sunday. They are cute, but the blisters have been intense.

Buyer's remorse? I'm sorry that term doesn't exist in my world lol Honestly though, why be remorseful? If I buy something I don't even entertain the idea of returning it because I consider to be a done deal-finalized with no regrets(with exception to exchanges or something being the worng size).Of course this means that I'm careful about what I buy since I don't have a trust fund lined up....=)

My buyers remorse usually happens at Target. I usually spend $10 to $15 more than what I had planned on every time I go in that place. Worse, the Target is directly across the street from me so it's handy to stop at on the way home from work.

i've gotten so conditioned to just return stuff i don't really want that i don't consider that buyers remorse lol. probably not a good sign but whatever. i did just feel massive buyers remorse over some glass pieces i bought from a seconds sale at my work. i went and spent 50 bucks and was fine, but then i went back and spent another ten bucks (everything had been marked half off) and for some reason that extra ten bucks totally caused my remorse to flare up. probably just cuz i couldn't return the stuff lol.

Thankfully my buyer's remorse has started kicking in before I actually make a purchase. I get all set to buy something, then realize it's an unnecessary expense and feel guilty for it.

I've been good the past few weeks because I've been budgeting... but just last week I went into BCBG and they were having this massive sale and I nearly freaked out because I had bought a dress there 2 weeks before for $300. If it was marked 50% off, I probably would have cried -- luckily it was still full price, so I didn't feel ripped off. Unfortunately, the balance is still sitting on my visa. I bought it for my friend's wedding on the 5th of this month, and now I feel sort of stupid for spending $300 on HER special day =( .....but I just have to take it out of the bag and all that remorse washes away. ..well, most of it does.

We've been trying to watch expenses lately since we're moving (on Monday!) so I've been trying to be very reserved in buying things. I guess the last thing that I really got buyer's remorse from was probably when I spent $90 on some Rogan for Target items. While I like them, I still feel like I could have bought one item and then the rest of that money could have been saved or better spent on other things. You know?

The last time I had real good buyer remorse was when i bought my Marc Jacobs Wallet. The wallet I had before that was just FINE, but I insisted that I had to have the new one. Ugh.

about 2 weeks ago when I bought yet another ed Hardy t-shirt! I already have 3 and I didn't NEED another. I just thought it was really nice and wanted it so I bought it! really...$65-$150 is too much for a t-shirt!

Yeah, we were, too. I used to get so excited every time we got a new shipment of stuff, and I'd always find something to buy, but now, looking back on it, pretty much everything was "ew" and not my style at all. God, am I glad I don't work retail anymore.
