I'm Asking: How Much Does a Movie Cost at Your Theater?

I was one of thousands who went to see Quantum of Solace on Friday night and sat in a packed theater with everyone else who had paid $10.75 to get their 007 fix. Yes, seeing Daniel Craig on the big screen was worth every penny, but I couldn't help but think back to a time when movie tickets weren't so expensive. How much do tickets cost for movies in your city?

Last time I went it was $6.50 with the student discount... but then again, I haven't gone out to see a movie in a good 9 months.

Tickets are usually $7.75 unless you go to the matinee then it's $6.25. The concession stand is usually where you blow the most money...

It's either $10.25 or $10.50. with the student discount it's like $6.75, but they don't give student discounts on weekends (how lame is that?) It really is way too expensive to go as much as we used to.

Oh in Singapore, we also have the VIP theatres, each theatre only has about 20 seats, which you can adjust and lie back and totally enjoy the movie. Blankets are also provided, and waiter service at the touch of a button. These tickets go for S$25, or US$16.50. It is really a nice treat! Also, watching movies in Singapore, regardless of what price you pay, seating is assigned strictly.

I am from SINGAPORE. Almost all of our cinemas are equipped with state of the art advanced screens and sound system, very comfy seats etc. Tickets on weekdays (Mondays to Thursdays) costs S$7.50 (or US$4.90), and on weekends (Fridays to Sundays) costs $9.50 (or US$6.20). If you book your tickets online you pay an extra S$1, or US$0.65 fee. After reading through the comments, I feel lucky to enjoy my Daniel Craig at a relatively cheap rate, and at the IMAX screen too, so there's more of him to look at. :)

In LA at an AMC theater it's $11.50 or $9.50 for a matinee.

I paid $14.50 for my ticket to Quantum of Solace yesterday. I saw it in what was probably the best theater in LA - The Cineramadome at the Arclight theater. I don't mind paying a bit more for an amazing theater (HUGE screen, excellent sound system), no commercials/ads before the movie and pre-assigned seating but theaters that don't have that in LA still cost $10-12 and that seems a bit steep.

$14 in LA. Matinee is around $9-12, but some theaters do early bird shows for around $7.

In Mexico the most expensive ticket costs like $7 dlls in the v.i.p sections (they have big, comfortable, leather seats, sushi, alcoholic beverages...) but I go to other theater were is like $4.5 at night, $2 on matine and Wednesday are 2x1 :D BTW I didnt like 007. my boyfriend was all excited at the movie and i was like wtf if i want to see dead people I just have to open the newspaper :( we live in tijuana so thats our everyday stories. The good news its that I won the privilege to pick the next movie we are seeing. Any good chick flick that its coming soon???

$8 at night. husband and I went to the movies last week and bought our two tickets and a small water for a total of $20 (20 oz dasani - $4!!!).

$10.00 in NJ....we have a rewards card though so if you buy so many you get free drinks, popcorn, and eventually a free movie!

When I lived in Winston-Salem, NC it was $7. Now that I'm back in New Jersey, it's $10.50, or $11 on a Friday/Saturday night. Good thing I don't go out to see movies often

Around here, it's $8-$9, but this weekend I went to one where a ticket is $12, but you get free soda and popcorn and the seats are really comfy.

went to AMC Kips Bay last night to see Quantum of Solace and buying the tix online beforehand costs 12.50 plus an extra 1.50 service charge. NYC is $$$. Thankfully not as much as UK prices tho.. yowza
