You want to make it seem as easy, seamless, and as trustworthy as you can to encourage people to donate. Strangers will not likely want to give money to an unknown PayPal account.

Use a trusted platform to host your cause. You can take a look at options such as Causes.com or FirstGiving.com. I chose to go with Causes, because I found that FirstGiving had a fee which takes 7.5 percent of your donor dollars before passing it on to the nonprofit of your choice.

The Causes fee was 4.8 percent so I went with the lower fee option to ensure that the donation bucks will go further. I then signed up to start my JustOneCrane Campaign to Heal Post-Quake Japan fund on the chosen website.
