This story on SmartMoney talked about a dog who incurred a $20,000 medical bill. Although that's certainly not the norm, I have to admit that as a pet owner, these furry animals definitely come with a hefty price tag. To put things into perspective, the average cost of owning a medium-sized dog will run up to a total of $6,565 while a cat will cost you $7,640 in each of their lifetimes, according to Visual Economics. After looking at the numbers, do you still think that pets are worth their cost?
