Your Two Cents: Have You Ever Flown First or Business Class?

Airlines are struggling with the increasing number of empty first-class seats as more passengers make coach reservations. Have you ever sat up front?

LOVE IT!! But I've never paid full price for it...I use airline miles!! For long flights though...it's totally worth it.

Only once, and because I got bumped up, not because I paid for it.

i have quite frequently, but not because i've paid to be in the higher class, but because i'm an elite member with some airlines. it really makes a difference on some flights.

Yes, many times when I was younger. Being on the second floor of an Air France 747 was definitely a cool experience. That said, I would never pay for business class tickets with my own money. I just don't think it's worth that much extra $. I prefer traveling more often (in coach).

We were flying on Christmas Day and a bunch of our flights were cancelled and/or delayed, so on our flight from Minneapolis to San Diego, we got bumped up to first class as an apology. It was super nice, that's for sure. Made it tough to fly coach on the way home, LOL.

No I have not, but I always hope that maybe I'll get bumped up! :DI really hate that most airlines give the empty premium and first class seats to people on economy standby from *other* flights, though. Once we're on the plane, and there's empty seats, I should be allowed to move up b/c the airline isn't going to make any more money on that flight once the cabin door closes. But whatever...maybe one day first class will be "on sale"/cheap enough for me to pay for!

I have when I was 7, it was a freak thing that our tickets ended up changed and we ended up in 1st class with a salad for dinner... Another time was flying with my grandparents who had accumulated so many air miles we were able to use those to get into 1st

I used to fly all the time for work, so I got automatic upgrade to first class for domestic flights all the time. Me and a bunch of guys in business suits. International, I flew business to Thailand and first class on the way back. Loved the La Prairie set!For some Int'l carriers, such as British Airways, Singapore Air and Quantas, coach is almost as good as business on american carriers...which all seem to suck.

no i haven't. i don't really mind coach, except for really long flights. i went to london and i couldn't sleep or anything, it was miserable.

I've flown to Italy in both coach and business class. I will never fly coach again on a long flight. Miserable.

Yup, whenever I have flown PAL (Philippine Airlines) it's been Mabuhay class (what they call their business class), cuz the flight is really long so you gotta be comfortable.

I get upgraded sometimes. The last time, my flight got canceled, and then my next flight was more than a couple hours late. I was flying alone, but I had a group of friends who were flying before myself, and they all left, and I didn't have anyone to talk with or hang out with. The people at the flight desk must have noticed after I kept coming up to check on the status, and I went back into the bathroom to deal with a panic attack after being told the fourth time that the flight got delayed, again. They felt sorry for me (It was New Year's Eve, and I was supposed to land five hours before I went out with other friends.) so they changed me to a different flight and upgraded me to first class all the way home. It was a really nice gesture from them, and it made my sucky day a lot better. Unfortunately, there were engine problems, and I didn't land till the moment the clock hit midnight at home. Oy! I'm still thankful for those people...I wish I had sent them a thank you card, but I didn't get their names, and it was back in 2006.

Yes - My husband used to fly a lot in his last job (Joint Venture with China), and he got a lot of mileage from the airline. So on our personal trip, we used the mileage to upgrade to first class, and it was very nice.
