Last week, a bronze sculpture by artist Alberto Giacometti set a new world record for the highest auction price ever fetched for a work of art. Bidding for "L'Homme qui marche I" opened at $19 million, but the final selling price was three times that — $104.3 million. Pretty impressive, huh? Now see if you can guess the final auction price of the four previous world record-holding pieces.

I always wonder if people buy these at such outrageous prices because they really love the piece or for the prestige of owning a "Picasso" or whoever. Cuz frankly, I think all those are fugly and I wouldn't hang those in my house if they were free. Of course art is totally subjective, but I still couldn't pay that much (even in an imaginary world where I had that kind of money) for a work of art I loved.
