Is It Embarrassing to Receive Flowers at Work?

Valentine's Day has come and gone, but the opportunity for guys to send tokens of their affection to the office is always on the horizon. I've seen some co-workers' faces turn crazy shades of pink when their sweetie sent a bouquet for their desks, while others glow with glee at the gesture. How do you feel about it?

I think it's kinda sweet, as long as it's not something that happens very often. May be just the thing to brighten your day.

I love getting flowers from my boyfriend at work - if they're delivered then I have to grab them at reception and go through the entire office so everyone can comment on how pretty they are... and then when they're at my desk for the week everyone comments on them. I love it and encourage him sending me flowers! :-) Oh, and it makes my boss jealous and I hear her telling her husband that I got flowers *AGAIN*!!

Before I even got engaged my now mother-in-law sent me an embarrassingly large bouquet of flowers to my office. Everyone asked if they were from my boyfriend so it was kind of funny to explain they were from his mom. I'm awfully lucky to have her :)

My hubby sent me flowers at work on Friday for V-day I was Really Surprise because he's not the flowers sending/giving kind of guy. But it was really a nice gesture that I really appreciated and I was embarrassed at all.

On my birthday I got a beautiful extravagant bouquet from my BF and a super cute bouquet from my best friend. It was a huge surprise to get the one from BF and so sweet to get another bouquet :) Trust me, I showed them off proudly!

I'm not a huge fan of flowers as a gift. I always buy cheap bouquets of fresh flowers, so I always have them anyway.

The only reason I would prefer for them to be sent to my house is that I have a very tight and packed train commute home so i would be afraid for the flowers mostly. I think its a super sweet think to do though.

I just think it's a waste of money to have them delivered. Just buy them and bring them to me at home, save the extra money.

i LOVE getting flowers at work - i think that it's a really sweet gesture when someone sends me flowers, and i don't think that it's too bad. in the past though, i've had TOO MANY people send me flowers at work on my b-day and that was a little embarrassing.

While I agree the gesture is sweet, it really IS embarrassing. Maybe if I worked in a different environment but I work in a department that is 99% ball-busting males and I wouldn't hear the end of it.. :) Home for the flowers, please !

it would only be embarrassing because it would cause my boss to bring "when are you gonna get married" thing. i hate it. i am perfectly happy not married. why ruin a good thing? :P

I've never gotten flowers at work, but I think it would be so romantic if I did get them. It's definitely not embarrassing! My husband doesn't really do the whole flowers-at-work thing, but once on my birthday he picked me up at work unexpectedly and had a bouquet for me. We went out to dinner and a movie and it was a total surprise. On Mother's Day, I had a fruit bouquet sent to my mom at work and she was so thrilled. She showed it off and everyone thought it was so cool! Definitely cooler than ordinary flowers.

Last school year my dad surprised me and showed up at my school during my 4th period class with a bouquet of flowers :) I was totally surprised (he lives in another state, and had been visiting my grandmother about an hour from where I teach), and it was one of the sweetest things ever :) My boyfriend sent me flowers at school once, and I loved it. I told him afterward, though, that he didn't need to do it again, since it's so expensive to send flowers. I'd gotten them once, and I'd wanted to get flowers delivered to me once at school :)

Not quite the same, but the first and only time so far that I've received flowers was while I was at work on my birthday. My boyfriend got in line and waited for me to notice and he came up and handed me a bunch of red roses. It was a bit embarrasing, but sooooooooooo sweet. All my coworkers thought he was a stalker, but I explained and they awwed. lol.
